Description
This is my belated birthday drawing for charcoalfeather .Ā I tried to draw his OC Mitya in a medieval Kievan Rus version. I'm so sorry it's late, but I've just had so little time to draw recently!Done in SAI

The background was so much fun! It's quite simplistic I guess, but fun nonetheless. Contrasts and vibrant colours are so much easier to do digitally...!

Well I just find digital art more convenient for the time being. But I hope I return to watercolours soon! I'm glad you like the colours and the composition. I wish I had more time to work on it!

i understand, you are good with digital, but if you feel better working with watercolour, probably digital to you feels like doing something "just because" watercolour are not an option in the moment..often i find myself explaining something similar to my friend who don't draw, last time i had to explain that, while i can easily sketch even when i am not home, i can't practice watercolour as easily when i am outside. I can take a sketchbook and a pencil with me but i can't bring all the watercolors, and brushes...
anyway i admire you, sometimes i practice with digital but to reach a decent result i need to work a lot on it, i am very very slow..
i hope you'll have soon more free time!

Ah what you say is exactly right! That's precisely what happens to me, digital art is something "just because". Somehow watercolour just feels too...serious, for quick pictures.

I like the colour scheme and the character's face, he looks close to the original version but yet he has a touch of your own style. A nice sketch!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad he reminds you of the original, I wasn't sure I managed to make him similar. I use a wacom bamboo but it's not working too well, the pen pressure often switches off, haha. Oh well...

This is great! Such a lovely present! Your digital art is really good! I love the shading on his hat and the embroidery on the waistcoat/tunic is very elegant. I love the outline of the trees against the yellow background, they provide a very beautiful background!

Well, to be honest I was afraid that I drew Mitya too delicate and young looking...I guess that's more like I see him in my head. But in this timeline he is supposed to be younger than in Basmachi...so maybe it's not that bad...
I really liked working with these colours. I rarely use such...vibrant colours so it was a nice change. And somehow it seemed to fit.

Thessa is slowly getting better, but the vet told us it's still going to be some time before the leg is fully healed and the rods can be taken out. She's in a good mood and quite energetic though, which is wonderful.Ā Thank you for asking!

Ah, thank you for asking! Well, it's going quite slowly unfortunately. She had a check-up just recently and the bone is mending but the vet said that it'll probably take another month before the bone is fully recovered. So we have to be patient.
