The day was bright and warm as Saurugol made his way down the mountain, flanked by his closest friend Tilika. They had spent the morning and early afternoon tending to the pathways that lead to Ademalik’s Cavern, making sure that it was still passable. There was a bit of an eerie feel to the path, the Alpha felt, for the last pair to climb was Malika and Quidel. And already the Gods had taken Quidel away from them. Saurugol still grieved for the loss. For himself, for Malika, for Quidel’s son and daughter, and for Havir as a whole. A great warrior had been taken from Havir. But it was a happy occasion too, for he was forever at peace, and watching over them all, from Paradise. Saurugol wondered who the next pair to climb these steps to the sacred cavern would be. Saurugol himself had yet to see it. Though he dreamed to one day.
He couldn’t help when his amber eyes flicked to the light gold she-wolf by his side, watching for an instant as she picked her
