I used to do this method once , because it reminds better of the depth of the eyesockets and the width of the nose + it's flow.It's also somewhat abstract as a concept , and abstract ideas are a bit easier to adept to, than trying to perfectly copy eyes. Thanks for reminding me of it.. tried it out , it feels like the face is easier to draw dimensional with this, as the approach is so much less probable to fall prey to symbolism. Eyes are very tightly bound to our symbol understanding of things , and make a poor starting point, as with symbolism , everysthing starts turning flat. You helped me find a mental tool again :3 will use it from now on.
