Description
Maya, Mental Ray, Paint Effects, Onyx, ZbrushI've been doing a ton of work lately with natural environments trying to improve my workflow while consistently building my library of custom made plants and trees. 110 million polys via particle and manually placed instances. 1.5 days start to finish, in part thanks to my growing library... !

I was wondering how you actually make this with hardware constraints?
After you get past the first 500,000 mark or the million mark, how do you continue to work?
Do you create each item separately and import it into the final render?

ReallY GOOD WORK. At last one artist that love the nature in its very simple form. It help a lot to understand the effort if you publicate a wireframe image of your art. Thanks a lot.

jesus christ ...You are saying you are IMPROVING your workflow? As in,,,what? doing something like this in less than a day? You are insane, but like somebody said before,,,is this usable beyond an image? I mean,.can there be added characters ? nevermind though...I have issues with zbrush, let alone maya particles and instances and whatnot.
Very very dedicated man.Hope to see you at the Oscars.

Stop taking photographs of forests and then claiming you built them in Maya.

Wow!! This is so cool! This looks so amazingly real. I have Maya in my computer. My sponsor got the entire Autodesk suite that has 3dsmax, maya, mudbox and some other stuff. I don't know how to use it though. I'm fourteen and it's really grown up program. One question. Does Maya come with the Mental Ray renderer built in? I know that Vray has to be purchased seperately and that's not in the suite. That renderer costs thousands. FYI, my sponsor got the 2010 suite for really cheap through the school student discount system. Now they have like 2013 version so mine is little obsolete but it's still a big program. Do you have real tutorials? It sounds cool. Thank you for the big pictures. This is now my desktop.

Thanks so much for the comments! I've definitely become a little plant obsessed recently and while I'm getting better, whenever I go outside and see how much more complex nature can be then what I've made thus far... well, definitely motivated to see how much further I can go with it....
