Aurora Logon made possible with resources from Longhorn Build 4074 and Longhorn Reloaded Project.
WORKS also on SP1
DirectUI Tweaks were made.
Dreamweaver was used for XML DirectUI syntax.
Wallpaper from Aurora Reloaded Pack by Uribaani
authui.dll bug fixed. Hope you like this release!
x64 link back online, after long struggles (Thanks go to Rebdominator and Kimba for their support)
Security Update:
Thank you for your support!
Aurora Background:
x64:[link]
x86:[link]
Mediafire Download Link (works both on x64 and x86):[link]
(I know that in the preview it still looks like the default 7 Logon, but it really does change your background, just hit "Test" button!)
in "System32" you have the x64 files ---> main x64 system files
in "SysWOW64" you have the x86 files ---> dependencies for the 32bit processes running on your Windows x64.
So you should download the x64 link, and replace the files manually in the "System32" folder. If you are runnig the x64 version of Windows 7.
If you run the x86-32bit, download from the x86 link and replace in "System32" also.
That is IT!
Don't forget to take ownership(Search with Google for that, it's a *.reg file) and replace manually (also, make a darn backup, before replacing!)

Do I put the 64 bit version in "SysWOW64"? Because that also has an authui.dll by default.

Huge tip for 64 bit users: Replace the files in a Linux operating system, I'd recommend Ubuntu on a live USB stick. I was getting black screens as well, and it turns out Windows deletes authui.dll in system32 for some reason if you replace it in Windows after taking ownership. After fixing it in Linux, it worked beautifully. Linux ignores all fancy Windows ownership settings, so it's just a matter of renaming the authui.dll files to authui.dll.bak, and dropping the correct DLL files in the correct folders (64 bit in system32, 32 bit in sysWOW64, Microsoft really screwed the naming up with those folders!). Shut down, pull the USB stick out, and boot.

Any chance this could work on a Win 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 or Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 machine? I'm trying to get the "Logon to: domain name" portion of the welcome screen removed.

Ahh alright. If that could be fixed, then it would be perfect. This theme still rocks.

I'm looking for something similar, yet probably simpler. I want to edit the small "box" image around my user picture on logon screen in Windows 7. I want to change it to grayscale, along with the -> (right arrow) button next to the password field.
Do you know of any way to do this, maybe a location of the image file?

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x86) and Carefully followed the instruction, even removed all stuff for changing logon and placed the original authui.dll before the whole process but can't make it work.
To author : Please do some update on this logon because it's not working.
To the downloader : If you don't want to mess up your system then Don't forget to make a system restore point first. Otherwise you are probably going to lose your current OS.

Awesome Works Windows 7 x64 bit.
Here's a little less vague tutorial on how to install it.
1. Extract the downloaded zip file.
2. Extract the Default_30.05.2012.zip
3. Go to: Default_30.05.2012/Embedded_30.05.2012/x64/x64
4. Copy the authui.dll and past it in C:/Windows/System32
5. Just look up how to change the background
6. Switch user or log off to see the epic new login screen.
If you have 32 bit then my guess is that you pretty much have to do the same thing but with the stuff in the x86 folder instead.
