Description
Cover to IDW's Speed Racer series. It was a challenge to combine a painterly style with anime-style characters. I think Alex Ross did a brilliant bridging of the two styles with his G-Force covers, the feel of which I wish I could have aped in some regard. Not sure if I'm completely satisfied with this piece, but I did appreciate educational value of the exercise nevertheless.Related content

When I googled Speed Racer this picture stodd out immediately. I absolutely love the colors and composition. Speed's pose looks so lively and fluid! I wish I had this on my wall!!

damn, your shading and lighting are incredible! very intense o: good job with the foreshortening too, and i absolutely love the colours in the background and the fadey racer x head. i want this in my room D:

The colors are superb, and crossing your style with that classic animation style from the serise has created a very pleasing medium. It feels very much like the sort of poster you'd see hanging in a 50's soda shop, and I think that really reflects the feel the Speed Racer serise gave. Awesome work!
