Description Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly glad to present you with...A MASTERPIECE.

I was willing to fill this thing out for quite a long time. But there either was so much stuff on my mind, it didn't fit in...or there was nothing sensible at all. But now, things have fallen into place. Here's a small collection of what influences, inspires and interests me in my artistic and what's not life.

So, let me explain it. And as I went a bit wild, if you read it all - I applaud you.

Music

Yeah, yeah, we're all music fans here, I know. ;D And I'm not an exception. You'd better double-check, who am I listening to - you, or my little aluminium beast of an iPod.

I chose Papa Roach's album cover for it, because:
a) this is the only band I love literally every song of;
b) this is my favourite album art.

But, behind this cover, there's a hundred of other artists and genres. Check the list of my favourite songs for some of them!

Guitars

"View's nice, noise is nice...morning moderners!"

Well, not quite so, but you get the idea. I love the sound. I love the shape. I occasionally make charms.

The two men I love very much
And it seems like I tend to love those, whose names start with "J" and end with "Y".

Jacoby Shaddix, vocalist of said Papa Roach.

I simply adore Coby; an alloy of sparkling infectious energy, outright insanity, and, at the same time, wisdom. He has a voice of amazing range, slightly husky - sooo looovely. And what he sings and says with that voice is no less amazing.

I mean, I love all the guys in P.Roach - Jerry, Tobin and Tony are awesome. But Coby happens to be the main songwriter, and the most interviewed member. So that's him, who inspired most of my life principles and mottos: never give up, never give in. Fuck a hero, be yourself. Live the way people won't be indifferent about you. It's never too late to live your life, the time is now, it's do or die!

And he's one damn good-looking guy! I love drawing him. ;D

And then there's someone else. And although these two may seem very different, they actually have many things in common...

Jeremy Clarkson, motoring journalist and Top Gear presenter.

Oh God, I LOVE Jezza. He's got the POWEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Once again, there's his voice. Deep. Completely mesmerizing. Manly as a beef&brick smoothie. AND with an English accent.
I swear, I can listen to him forever. Even if he's bashing Audis. Or Nissan Z's. Whatever.

Then, there's an astonishing charisma and sense of humour. There are disarming boyishness and spontaneity. There's the same insanity I love so much. There are his narrating and writing skills, absolutely brilliant (I cried over that Ford GT article...and Forza Motorsport 4 advert, too.) All that completed with such a sincerety and being-himself.

Finally, there's a something like a lesson I've learned from Jeremy. Speak your mind, even if they'll make you apologize for that later. Then apologize for something else and stand your ground. xD

And, to my mind, he's pretty handsome.

You know, I really love Richard and James, too. But Jeremy's just a little bit closer to me.

To sum it up, both Shaddix and Clarkson are simply amazing guys, professionals, husbands and fathers. Call them my heroes, role-models, whatever you want - but I'm not using any labels. Because none of them can fully describe my affection and respect towards these men.

TopGear

"I fucking love this show." - *jollyjack , Sequential Art #0532

And if you don't like Top Gear, then you've probably never seen it. Or you're a Morris Marina enthusiast.
Or you don't have any sense of humour whatsoever.

I first watched it...uh, long time ago. It's been randomly aired here by different channels, dubbed and cropped to stuff the episodes with ads. But I've recently got all the series as they are, in genuine English...and it's heaven.

Seriously, Top Gear has everything you could wish for. It has it ALL. It's more than just interesting - it's exciting in a breathtaking way! Funny as hell, full of nifty lines I can quote forever and ever. Pretty educating and with the craziest tests possible. Noisy and wild! And it's about cars of all kinds.

But this show isn't great by cars alone. There's so much more to its hearts and souls - the presenters, the boys! Ambitious but rubbish, just like me. The silliest and the wisest men in the whole world.

And of course, don't forget the Stig. As well as the whole production crew, responsible for the high-quality filming and soundtrack.

All in all, it is my personal time of happiness, from the first chords of the opening tune to the last line of the credits.

Cars

Even my nickname is car-related. What else can I say?

Oh, I enjoy the smell of petrol.

Also Toyota Celica. Nissan 350Z, Skyline R34, and GT-R. Baby Lambo. Audi A4 Allroad. Corvette Z06. Mitsubishi Evo VII. And about a hundred of others. I've been a little petrolhead since my childhood. To me, cars are art. Power. Freedom. Passion.

No, I seriously need to get that license, already!

British Things

UK, Y U NO like my Schengen visa. >:C

I consider myself an anglophile. I love the language, to begin with. As a linguistics student, I'm also interested in British history, culture, and traditions. I like this country's distinctive cold charm, and really want to visit it in the nearest future. In the meantime, I just enjoy all the British things I have at my disposal.

Tea

Oooh, tea is my fuel. I drink up to seven cups a day. Not a creative process goes without it. I've even got myself a devious mug from `trenchmaker -
I love all the natural blends (not the aromatized ones, bleagh), but my most favourite is black&rosehip.

Travels

I've been travelling quite regularly since being 3 years-old (thanks, parents!) Needless to say much about it, trips are always full of different impressions! And I like being on the road and skipping classes.

Languages

It's none other than my professional subject - as I'm being trained as an interpretor/translator.

I love learning languages - it's not only grammar and vocab, but also all the kind of facts about its native speakers and countries! It's like seeing the world from the different sides and being able to put your thoughts into words in many more ways!

Plus, I can give fancy titles to my artworks.
Apart from being fluent in Russian, I'm pretty good in English, not so bad in French, and kind of new to Spanish. But I keep on learning.

Roses

My favourite flowers and perfect macro-shots models. There's so many different sorts, colours, shapes, textures, scents...it's fantastic! What's more, every time a shoot a new flower, I try to find a new angle = practice!

Friends

People, who keep on proving that who I am and what I do isn't pointless. Those especially dear and important to me. My main supporters.

My lifetime best friend Alyona , and my best school friends Sophie and Helena aka Shinoda.

Great people I met here, on deviantART. I have a small icon wall under my ID - check them out (such a pity some don't appear on dA much anymore...) But I'd like to mention and thank those, who never failed to be there for me, in my both happy and sad times.

Stef , Pop , Jen , Deb and LΓ©vana .

I also want to separately thank Kam and Sara . For all the good time.

Thank you, guys. I love you! You keep me going.

And of course, thanks very much to all my watchers! You all rock!

DeviantART

The place to give and to get. Art and feedback.
To meet new friends, to share the thoughts, to be just me, to see how hard can it be.

Impressionism and Surrealism

As you see, the pictures I chose to represent those styles...belong to them in only in my head, probably. But I'm not taking them strictly - I'm not an art expert, after all. It's all about feelings and impressions to me. I love that certain roughness and sketchiness of impressionism, combined with endless amount of colours. While surrealism is all about dreams and fantasies, and doing impossible things.

I finally finished it! 8D If you've read up this line...

Hey Alex!
Thank you for the "feature" or I don't know what to call it. But anyways, I'm glad to be part of that post, and happy to see and support your art!
So you're really into cars and stuff? That's nice! I don't know that much about it, I do like beautiful cars and bikes, though. If you're working to get your license, I hope you're going to rock it!
Talk to you soon.

Hey there, sunshine!
Don't mention - it's only a pleasure!

Yeah, I really am. Although I wouldn't say I know all about the technical side, I think I'm gonna work it out eventually, as the experience comes. Totally agree on the beauty aspect, however - sometimes that's the only one you can appreciate fully...sadly. And thanks! Hope so, too.

Can't wait! See you!

I can't agree more with about 9 out of those 16 influences I shan't name them, for it'll shame the others.

Of course nothing you do is pointless! Everything is done with purpose, or it'd never get done! ;D
Then again, doing nothing is because of procrastination...

The big ones of Top Gear. Though, I'd read those of Jeremy, too.

Oh, okay. Haven't read any of them yet. Although, I did find it funny in that one episode where Jeremy was traveling a long distance - from one side of Scotland to the other before the sun came up,I believe - and the crew put the audio version of Hammond's book on in his cd player. That was funny as hell.

I meant to ask, "What is the bit about "try to fill the grid . . . ?"
I also meant to ask, "Are you in a band? I know you are a guitarist."
I also meant to ask, "OK, so is it Sasha or Alex?"
I also meant to ask, "How is your nickname car related?"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alexskyline In reply to JosephThomas [2011-11-15 17:14:40 +0000 UTC]

You may want to ask the person, who made this template and wrote it, about that bit.
Oh really? Even I didn't know I was a guitarist...but I'd love to be in a band.
It's Aleksandra, so both those are short names. The first is Russian variant, the second - foreign one.
I took "Skyline" from Nissan Skyline R34.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JosephThomas In reply to alexskyline [2011-11-15 17:32:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, I tried but couldn't fit anything into the 1x1 grid!
You're not a guitarist??? Didn't you get a new guitar a year or so ago?
So, you are saying that "Sasha" is the same as "Sandra?" Actually, I rather like Aleksandra!
Ah, well, "alexskyline" is much better than, say, "alexnissan" or "alexBMW." "alexmercedes" isn't bad, though!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alexskyline In reply to JosephThomas [2011-11-15 17:43:31 +0000 UTC]

Pfff. That guy put a whole "x7" in there, and you can't? What kind of an artist are you...
You know, it's like that saying: "Owning a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner." I wouldn't dare calling myself a guitarist yet. But just yet.
Mmm, no, not quite so. Sandra is a full name, as well. It's more like calling Andrew "Andy". Huh, so do I. But to me, it sounds too official.
Bwahaha! I like the word itself. It has some feeling of freedom in it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JosephThomas In reply to alexskyline [2011-11-15 18:30:12 +0000 UTC]

I know, right? What kind of artist, indeed.
I used to be a guitar owner! Mine was an "auditorium" Gibson acoustic. Alas, it was stolen from me years ago.
I still don't quite get where "Sasha" fits into the scheme of your name(s), but I will be thinking of you as Aleksandra from now on.
Don't take that in the wrong way. I call my granddaughter "Elizabeth Anne" even though she is known to almost everyone else in the world as "Liz."
"Liz." Really?
