Description This shot is from Jostedalsbreen in Norway, the largest glacier in the country.

The opening of the portal is 10 meters high, and the glacier is 800 meters high!

This was a gloomy day in March, the light just appeared bright for a few seconds, but fortunately I had my camera ready on the tripod for shooting.

And it's even more beautiful in the inside. Ice caves have many intricate and complex icicles and shapes in ice....

These are some reasons why I want to go to places like tundras or glaciers...

alfred0708 In reply to Ankaa-Phoenicis [2009-08-15 16:00:38 +0000 UTC]

i couldn't agree more. the glaciers are impressive inside.

places i can recommend are; west-coast of norway, island and patagonia in argentina.

Briksdals-breen is an "arm" from Jostedalsbreen on the west-coast of Norway. It falls down 800 meters from the top. Unfortunately it has decreased quite a lot the last years, so this portal is only left on this image...Hopefully there are a few other images left!
