That is an awesome collection

Do all of them still work well?

ALhedgehog In reply to MJMJR [2018-05-01 05:06:11 +0000 UTC]

All of them plus a few more I picked up with the exception of the Xbox 360. It died hard.

I had a few friends repair their Xbox 360 from buying parts off eBay. So you might be able to repair it unless the entire insides are fried.

Yeah, from what I can tell the GPU is done. I got one of the slim models to replace it, though.

I like how you have a white and a black Dreamcast.  You have so many consoles you could start a game console museum.

ALhedgehog In reply to QuantumInnovator [2017-05-16 04:27:45 +0000 UTC]

That would be fun. It'd cost too much unfortunately. Hopefully at the very least I can get a cool game room going.

my roommate will sell me his magnavox odyssey 2 for 30 but I'm a little nervous the picture isnt clear on it, I think its the ac adapter since the cables have been spliced together on it you have any thoughts on this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ALhedgehog In reply to Lugia417 [2014-05-31 06:59:33 +0000 UTC]

Hard to say. Luckily the cables on an Odyssey 2 can be pretty easily replaced.

The ac adapter should just be a 11.5V power adapter. I'd recommend one of those variable adapters with the different plug tips and that little switch on back (seen here: ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I… . 11.5V is kind of a hard one to find sometimes, but they're around. If you're not horribly worried about it I'd play it on 12V.

The video cable just goes into an RCA style plug attached to the board, so if it's missing the switch box it needs or has a bad chord you can just run an RCA cable to the board and attach one of those Coax adapters (seen here: www.computercablestore.com/ima… on the end that goes to the TV. Both of those items should be at various stores. I found some at Walmart before.

The controllers are what I'd worry about most, but they're pretty tough. They're kind of odd beasts and a little hard to repair from what I can tell, but then again I'm an amateur at such things. $30 seems like a decent price though if it turns out to work, even if it needs a little tune up here and there.

Lugia417 In reply to ALhedgehog [2014-06-01 06:23:16 +0000 UTC]

yeah the video cable is fine and the controllers are too this is a non hardwired controller model. just wierd fuzzy lines when playing and that spliced ac adapter just seems jenky, I heard I could use a atari 2600 ac adapter on my model since the power adapter is like a headphone jack style 3.5mm

There is a very, very, very... 100 very's later: very slim chance that my uncle might own Nintendo World Championships 1990. He was big into gaming.

Very cool. I don't think I'll ever get that far into collecting. My drive for collecting is to basically experience what looks cool for myself (either for the sake of video game history or just that I'm being a picky bastard).

NICE, i,ve had all of those but the SG-1000, ive got some you dont, but i'm mainly into 5th and 4th generation myself, Is the SG-1000 the australian model or the japanese model ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ALhedgehog In reply to THEAIRISFREE [2013-01-11 04:53:55 +0000 UTC]

It's the 1983 Japanese model. I need to get a new photo up of my collection and delete this one. It's grown significantly. I just don't have enough space in my new place to lay them all out so I may have to cut together a few group photos. The 4th and 5th generations are pretty badass. I didn't grow up with a 4th gen console at all, so the nostalgic value isn't really there except for ads and such. The 5th generation really sealed me as a gamer, though. I probably spent more time with that Sega Saturn than I have with any other console besides the Dreamcast.

THEAIRISFREE In reply to ALhedgehog [2013-01-11 20:24:36 +0000 UTC]

I myself am a Non NINTENDO GAMER, i try to stay out of mainstream, with the exception of SEGA, in the fifth gen i played a LOT of SATURN, 3DO, NEO GEO CD, and at one point i got to play a jaguar, the NEO GEO CD belonged to a neighbor of mine who used to import systems, he had a rare canadian AMIGA CD 32 and a PC-FX. in the fourth gen I had a SEGA GENESIS and a TURBO GRAFX 16, but i lost my TURBO GRAFX 16 in storage. Do you have a FM TOWNS MARTY, i love to see pictures of those, and video, they just look so COOL,, I'm a hard core gamer BECAUSE of SEGA, did you ever play DREAMCAST online, it was bloody brilliant ! as was SEGA SATURN NETLINK !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ALhedgehog In reply to THEAIRISFREE [2013-01-18 08:20:57 +0000 UTC]

I don't have a FM Towns Marty, and to be honest I can't even think of what it looks like. I only got to play the Dreamcast online authentically a couple times, but for using a 56k modem it ran really smooth and quick. Makes me wonder what that same group would have done with standard speeds we got now. I've used fan run servers with my broadband adapter and they work pretty good, too. I love the Saturn Netlink adapter. Know your friend's number? Bam! You're playing together.

Yep, for a while I've been trying to track down the rare and elusive BROAD BAND ADAPTER for my DREAMCAST for under 50 $ I'll find one eventually, the GENESIS in japan had a dedicated modem too, in america there was a third party modem, hey are you a member of any retro game forums, i'm on most of the big ones like NEO GEO and SEGA SATURN and SEGA 16

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ALhedgehog In reply to THEAIRISFREE [2013-01-20 16:03:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I wanna get a hold of the Genesis modem and the Sega Channel adapter. I'm not an active member on any of the retro forums. I just read them from time to time.

It was an eBay find. Luckily I got it right before the Angry Video Game Nerd did his episode on it so it didn't have so much attention.
