Description
You may recognize this species as the same one Zeek is, my main character for by Children's book project. I call this one the Molek and they are mammalians with two legs and a split tail that end in finger-like appendages. Originally arboreal, they have adapted to life of the ground though they have retained opposability in their toes. This is in part due to strangling and crushing as their main means of killing prey pre-sapience. Their trunks and "fingers" have internal structures composed of segmented cartilage and muscle, granting support, strength, and flexibility. Along with radiating heat, their four ears can move independently of each other and act as flagging signals for other individuals. The only real notable difference between males and females is the size of their tusks, with the females' smaller than the males. Culturally, the Molek are relatively peaceful and advance (having developed warp capable ships). However, there was a period when their planet became unusually hot and resources became scarce, forcing the Molek into a desperate state of competitive savagery over water and food. This period lasted for roughly 300 years before the planet cooled again. The Molek have made a lot of progress sense those times and consider this "era of fire and blood" a dark chapter in their history they would rather forget.
