Description For these rainbows I use FIMO Classic, Effect (Translucent) and some clay softener. FIMO has really nice vibrant colors.

This tutorial is a very simple one, as long as you have that machine. The professional FIMO machine is pretty expensive (around 55 euros). I only have it because my mother in law bought it for me. Instead of this one I've heard you can use a machine for noodles. People say it's the same thing, only 4-5 times cheaper.

For those who live in Romania, the machine can be found here: [link]

And I think it's easy to find anywhere in Europe as the producer is an European company.

For those who live in the USA, ~iluvmanga2000 told me she knows a clay pasta machine from Michaels that only costs 22 dollars.

Even with the machine, it's simple, but not exactly easy.

I make sure each clay color is right, not just the color itself, but the clay. You must soften them with your hands before putting them through the machine or else you will have much more work to do and you might waste a lot of clay.

When I make rainbows I usually use more than one shade for each color. This makes the blending a bit less time consuming. Practically, I mix the main colors myself and besides ROGVAIV (ROYGBIV? ) I have some of the colors in between too from the beginning.

If there's a color you don't have, make it. Today for example, I was out of red. I mixed some pink-magenta and orange and a bit of dark and a glittery shade of red and got some real red.

When you bend the clay be sure the colors you put one on top of the other are the same.

Mixing classic with translucent gives the rainbow a nice effect. Also using translucent only looks great.

If you have any questions, ask.

See here some of the things I made using this tutorial: [link]

And see here the stuff other people made using this tutorial: (nothing yet, gimme links ).

To me it's interesting when I think how 3 years ago I was working with a kitchen knife and a normal needle and now I have all these fancy tools. I didn't think I'll get here with it. I'm glad you liked the tut!

I got the cheap pasta machine from a craft store and it SUCKS it leaves lines in the clay
when you roll it out. Where did you get yous?

ALINAFMdotRO In reply to ThePetiteShop [2012-09-13 17:33:43 +0000 UTC]

I bought it from an online store that sells FIMO stuff. Here's one on Amazon [link] . I'm sure you can find one in an online store in your country so you won't have to pay a lot for shipping.
