Description After 43 total hours of work, my model of Nintendo's Mario is finished!

The model has been made with a combination of FIMO, wood, acrylic rod and tinfoil & metal armatures.
The completed piece has been painted with Citadel acrylic paints and finsihed with a FIMO brand gloss varnish. It measures 19.2cm tall by 13.7cm deep by 22.2cm wide and also features a foam base to prevent damage to surfaces.

This is the largest model that I have created to date.

I know I commented on this before, but wow.... This looks better than a toy, it couldn't even be better in any way. Those flowers get me too... Seriously perfect all around!

I still have it in my display cabinet. For some reason though the varnish on the goomba has taken on a crazy paving look to it.

Oh that's too bad... I've never really messed with varnish before, I don't like the shine to it. I sometimes accent things like eyes with it though.

I mostly use a matt type varnish now. Just something to seal the paint on or add a layer of protection. I will use gloss for things like keyrings and charms though.

I very rarely use paints so I guess that's why I never ran into using it. I looked through your gallery, a lot of amazing things there!

Thank you. Hopefully this year I will get around to making a permanent model of Morph (I have a lot of plasticine versions which are getting dirty and cannot be cleaned) as well as sculpting something designed by LuigiL   I love his artwork and he said I could sculpt some of his work if I wanted. Although that permission was given quite a few years ago now so I may probably need to ask again just to be sure.

Wow this is great! The hands are most impressive! That's my weak spot, I have a hard time with fingers. Any tips?

Hey thanks. I agree that fingers are not easy.

If I am struggling then sometimes I will bake the palm of the hand without fingers and then add them on afterwards. Because the palm is already baked hard it makes smoothing the fingers on much easier without having to worry about squashing what you have already done.

Sometimes I "cheat" as well. If the hand is a fist then you can make a sort of mitten, fold the finger part into the right shape and then score and carve the finger shapes in afterwards.

This is amazing! It looks very professional, as if Nintendo designed and made it themselves. Mario's face is perfect- I love his eyes
