great perspective and awsome detail in the texture of everything.
I read the tutorial to and you have a lot of great points; but I don't agree about the brushes. If you are serious about your watercoloring a true sable brush will be better in the long run...
...have you ever done any less controlled painting? I often struggle to not line my work before painting it but am sometimes very pleased with the results when I don't ink it first.
love the piece

hm, what are the advantages of a true sable brush?
i dunno, i work with synthetic ones for quite some time now and actually find them even more reliable than my kolinski brushes .
i do a lot of stuff w/out lineart, but i must say i usually don't like the results too much... i feel that my paintings tend to look less crisp and expressive, more like "for fun". so i usually don't even upload them. i guess i'm a control-frak .
but i find it really depends on your personal style; for example, your paintings DO look very expressive without inks XD !
thanks for the comment!

about 12 years ago I won a small art competition and won a gift-cert. to a local art supply store; I think I spent most of is on a couple expensive brushes I never would have been able to (well, justify the cost of, anyway) afford myself... I've just found that as compared to other brushes I've used over the years, they hold the color longer, hold their shape wonderfully, and are just smoother and more consistent over whatever surface I am working... just my $.02
anyway, you find what works for you and your style is a bit different than mine so our needs are different... and your work is quite lovely! I'd love to see more of your watercolor work (or even just your traditional work!)
and thank you for the kind words about my paintings!

Reminds me ALOT of the color illustrations the author of Berserk does. Love those brick textures.
Maybe my only suggestion would be to do a little more research into medieval armor before you start off doing the comic. No offense, it's just I think you might have more fun doing something a bit more creative with those guards.

Totally awesome. It's magnificent pictures like this that make me want to learn more about watercolors...
Or discouraged, because I know I'll never get that good XD
Anyways, wonderful concept, excelent detail and great use of colors. (Did you learn on your own, or did you have classes or what?)

i didn't have classes for watercolors. but i try to work harder and longer on every new pic, haha . two years ago i used to draw for about 4 hours on a piece, then 6, 10 and on this one way more than 20 hours

I feel drained from critique, so this will be short and very much idiotic.
The one thing about these pictures of yours that tells me it's...your's [OH FUCK BAD SENTENCE], is the faces and movement. If I were to compare you to another comicbook author, I'd had to say Eiiciri Oda. Wish I could say something more interesting, but the expressions and the jolly godness has somewhat of the same life to it. THESE PAINTINGS LIVE, MY GOD!
Let me just say that I like the idea. Paladins with fuckingpsychoredhair giving people the fingers = win.
But to short this seemingly pointless comment up:
It's difficult to enter into this work because of how the aura of the sexy fish contextualize the remarkable handling of light.
So there, have a nice day!

What the?! I commented on this already, but it never showed up! See, this is what I mean about dA being buggy for me |:<
Anyway, the detail in here is flippin' amazing! (No pun intended.) Seriously, the detail you put into, not just the character, but the background as well has me taken aback! Not to mention that the perspective is interesting and well-done Oh, and I like the concept. You made me laugh with this one, Ali!
