Good 'ol Ali, you never cease to amaze me!
The one thing that really makes my heart flutter about this picture is how insignificant the background is. It’s almost like its saying “oh, don’t mind me. The real stuff is in the foreground”. And that’s rather…well, thought-provoking when you think of the fact that the background is sort of painting out the whole point of the picture. Still, the “faintness” of the background doesn’t ruin the message at all. In fact, I’d say it only strengthen it, seeing the point of the picture rests in the solemn faces of the characters. But then again, this image wouldn’t work quite as good the background. (Can you count all the times I said “background”? Oh, the joy of having a poor vocabulary…
And I’m completely shocked at how skilled you are with colours. The light is in a class of its own, and the way you paint the change in weather? It looks so natural, like it would be completely normal to see a poly-seasonal three when you’re out for a stroll.
I think this is a picture that can lure out everyone’s' inner medieval romantic. The emotions are just likely to pour out of the image at any minute!
By the way, I must add that you’re probably the only artist here I don’t feel ashamed of writing long-winded, asskissing comments to. DON’T YOU FEEL LUCKY?!
