Description A fossil my mum found for me while in Mayo a few weeks back. It's about the size of my palm.

this is Calcite but is the first i see like that nice found, it look like a Amonite but to me is more a like a Gastropod around 400 at 450 million years old.

That's one neat fossil. Looks like the whole shell of the thing has been turned to calcite or quartz.

I love it. It has a whole shelf to itself in my room! When you look at it closely, i think its calcite, but it could be quartz too, but its not really shiney.

Lol. Awesome. You're lucky, cause my parents hate it when I pick up rocks and fossils and things.

Well last week my stepdad got mad at me for collecting all the rocks lol. I will be posting pics later. But anyway, he said there was no way i would be able to bring them home as i was only allowed 10kgs, but i managed, as i wore most of my clothes home on the plane (i was boiling lol). So i got LOADS. Mum just laughs at me. Im 21, and get excited by collecting rocks off the side of the road.

"get excited by collecting rocks off the side of the road."
XD Rofl. I'm the exact same way. I'm like a little kid picking up rocks whenever I see something interesting hiding among the other rocks. My best find so far was a small elongated piece of quartz crystal that I found on the side of a trail in Salt Lake City while hiking on the island in the middle of Salt Lake. But now, my prized find, is a piece of red shale, from a local outcrop of red shale, with the fossilized footprints of something slithering across the mud. Not only that, but I also found a lump of mud(STILL MOIST) INSIDE a large piece of red shale when I broke it apart. I gave that lump to my freshman Physical Science teacher, as he was also my summer Geology class teacher, and the one that took our class to that local outcrop of red shale. I found another piece of shale that still had some moist mud in it, and broke it into a smaller piece and kept it. But I gave my teacher the BIG(I mean this thing was at least the size of my fist) lump of mud, cause he's awesome. And he was suprised when I gave it to him, because he was not expecting to see a lump of 65 million year old mud in a plastic bag. And the cool part was, after a little while of sitting in the classroom, water began to condense on the inside of the bag. It was awesome!

Aww, there's a geology program in the department next to mine, and I admit, I love harassing them for interesting tidbits. Still, don't disparage graphic design, I'm sure you enjoy it, too.
