Is "faceplants" a good thing or a bad thing?

I mean I can see it both ways, either as being simmilar to a rofl, except sudden and unexpected, or the other way, cause facepants hurt!

I forget you dont watch as much anime as Jeni and I, face plants happen whenever something seemingly ludacris happens or somesuch

oh, ok! I can picture that now (I didn't make the connection, in most anime (that I've seen) they just fall off the screen and I can't tell if it's forward or backward so I didn't think of it as "face plant")
