Cheers !! Yes, it would be nice to see some more this year, didn't see any up in Devon last year, and only a few in Cornwall...and none close enough....but then I was busy watching the kestrels and the elusive choughs alledgedly in the area...!!

Do you know where these live? I think i have seen them around here. I was trying to decide if it was a bird or a moth, but can never know... I live in Japan at the moment...

This was photographed in Cornwall, England - they migrate over from Europe in the summer. This is a hawkmoth but it flies and feeds in the same way as a hummingbird, hence the name!

I have heard that there are some humming birds in Japan but they aren't native. They where brought over from... somewhere. Anyhow, I thought the animal I saw was a moth of some kind but it moved like a humming bird. It also looked like it had tail feathers. I have a very bad photo of one. If they migrate then it makes since that I only see them during a certen time every year.

Cheers! This was taken down in Cornwall, but i have seen them up in Exeter in very warm years...look around honeysuckle late afternoon early evening...well, thats when i saw them...!!
