It's a great sport, takes a bit of practice to get it just right, but very impressive then!

I know longbows are slightly different from recurve, etc ( forget the other type...). How many pounds can you pull?

Vids are something that take time, but once you get the hang of it, you're into it for good I'm discussing a comic sketch with David dealing with the Faeries. It should be quite interesting.

Intresting ending to the series.

Hmmm. Wolfshead. Don't suppose there's any events up in Yorkshire area? Not that I'm allowed to go to any at the minute anyway, even SCA is pushed to the back burner until I finish my degree.

Erm...my geography is pretty awful....the most northern one this year i think is Hawkestone...I believe in the past there has been stuff at nottingham and warwick, maybe if you found an event then you could let us know - i can pass it onto Ginnie to chase up...once your a member then they pay for the petrol costs...but you have to attend 3 events first... What degree are you doing and what is SCA....am curious and possibly will feel very dim if it's obvious...!!!

I'm doing English Lit, and the SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism - another medieval group.

Ooooo...EL....i was always useless at English at high school, but then they seemed to assume you knew about it...and i was more into science, not art, at least academically, until i finished uni, tho always an artist...if any of that makes sense then have another rum....!! SCA looks good...did a brief look thru it...will return and look again...seems a very well organised system, which is necessary for such a large and diverse group...very impressed!

none near me not even when I go to weddings in England cos those are in June

true...miles away for me - the only downside to Devon...but then i am here! The Brighton one is actually at Michelham Priory, so a bit further east than Brighton - between 30mins and an hour depending on traffic and if you know the route! Good event and other groups there too but it's Wolfsheads' 'home base'.

Mm, see, one downside to meeting mysterious entities on the internet. Most live SOOOO far away. But if you're ever in the states, photo shoot.

I haven't had chance to really try it out....too wet and too busy...but the few that i did try shooting went very well....have got some 'proper' arrows on order as and when the fletcher has time to make them....it's only a 42lb bow but then it's been a long time since i have shot properly...tried a 40lb bow at the meeting and did very well with that...!

ONLY a 42lb?? Meep! Mine's only 34! Then again, it was specially made for my titchy draw length.

LOL!!! I'm getting better with it now, but still don't practice as much as I should...or just practice a bit.. my drawlength is a pain...too ong and so many borrowed arrows fall of the end and attempt to do hand piercing....but as the saying goes, it's not what you got, it's what you do with it!!
