I always wondered how one did leather embossing and I always assumed one just used the stamps and hammered it or pressed it in. But the appliance of water makes so much sense! Thank you for clearing up that little mystery for me!
I mostly work with lambskin(sheep leather) and it's so thin and soft and doesn't even harden after being wet or wet heated. Tooling definitly works better on thicker kind of hides.
