Yeah, Here's a tutorial for how I pose model's fingers. I've noticed a lot of people don't even try to pose the fingers and it looks awkward. I've also seen others who complain that posing fingers is too hard. And I've seen some who make a genuine effort but struggle. IDK why, but I never have too much trouble with fingers. So I figured I'd share my method and see if it makes things a little easier for other people as well.
Default Neru model by M2 used for this tutorial. I didn't put as much effort in the pose as I usually do, but the main focus was fingers.

Well, I have to agree with you there, making a pose for fingers is really such a headache
But, it's kinda fun for me to make a pose, I don't know, like, kinda challenging perhaps
Load the pre-pose data and edit the pose, sometimes I do that too .

lol fingers usually don't give me much trouble. Though if I do manage a really good pose I'll save the pose data for future use.

I find myself posing bodyparts that don't make it into the final render all the time XD Usually because I never know what camera angle will look best until I've got a lot of pieces mostly in place, so I pose a model's entire body just in case.

The problem with copying the hand data is the fact that you never are in the exact same pose all the time.
One hand might be a bit lose than the other, or tighter. A more relaxed pose usually has the fingers straighter than that. The forefinger is straighter than the rest, actually! The forefinger moves separately from the middle, ring, and pinky fingers. They move together, surprisingly.

XD I want to smack myself for being half asleep when I first replied to you. I just saw your little bit about the middle, ring, and pinky finger movements.
Actually, those three don't move together. The middle finger can move independent of the ring and pinky if you want it to. Probably the most obvious example for that would be when someone is flipping the bird. The middle finger is the only one extended. However, the pinky and ring fingers DO move together, and it's tricky- or sometimes even painful- to make them move independent of each other (try to bend only your ring finger so it touches your palm and keep your pinky perfectly straight). This is because while you may have 4 fingers on your hand, there are only THREE tendons controlling the muscles in those fingers (excluding the thumb). So the ring and pinky fingers share a tendon.

That's only if you don't try to. If you force yourself to, the ring and pinky don't move with the middle. If you move your middle finger alone, the ring follows it slightly. Yeah, you can move any finger by itself if you want to, but when you aren't paying attention, the three subconsciously move together.
If you couldn't move your fingers independently, you couldn't type. You'd have to search-and-peck.
I'm pointing out that - in general - when your hand is in a relaxed position, those three fingers generally move together.

I only meant for this to help give some people an easier method if they find posing fingers tedious, I never claimed it was perfect.
I know quite a bit about human anatomy, but every individual is different and I was basing this off my own hand in a relaxed posture. My fingers curl quite a bit depending how relaxed my hands are, actually. And yes, your two hands may have subtle differences. But if the poses are largely the same, you can still copy the pose and not have to tweak too much to get the differences.

I was just pointing it out. Those hands looks strained, like you're mad. when a hand is down, it's in a different position than when resting upward.

Mm.. Yes I see what you mean. I do tend to pay more attention to the accuracy when working on a full picture though. This was just a quick tut for a friend.

yeah, but this is a tutorial for "lazyer" people,
there indeed should be a step added with adjusting the fingers of one hand a little bit so they arent completely similair

Or you can just be a lazy sonofapig like me and load a finger pose and edit it from there.~

True, but some people have problems editing even a preloaded pose, and sometimes you can't find a pose for what you want.
