Description
The golden fur of Royal Jelly reflected the sun’s rays, almost mimicking it. Her gorgeous fur shimmering in the light and waving in the breeze that pushed the blades of grass beneath her paws. She had almost forgotten about the handler on her back…. Almost. All of her bounding around was shaking him around as well and he wasn’t enjoying it much at all, especially when she ended up falling. He rolled right off of her back and into the nearby river. The golden colored tawny dire scrambled to her paws as Sloan was forced down the river, frantically grabbing at the bank for anything to cling to to hold on to. Royal Jelly panicked and launched herself into the river with him, scooping him up and onto her back. Sloan clung to her fur, coughing and spitting out the water that had trapped itself in his mouth and lungs… This day is not going so good so far… Sloan thought silently, expecting Royal Jelly to be thinking the same thing but a look on her face said that she was just worried about him getting hurt. Sloan stroked her mane as they travelled down the river, eventually saying,
“It’s okay, I know you are frightened and worried but we will be okay, sound good?” Sloan tried to comfort her but she just gave a whine in response, he got worried to when the sound of a waterfall came from where they were headed and Sloan swore under his breath.
“Well this can not be good. I swear if we live I will hug you Royal Jelly.” Sloan just said out of fright. That may or may not have determined her to make them survive this waterfall, she was not about to miss out on a hug.

She used all of her strength to paddle and push her way as close to the bank as she could. She then extended her fore paws and tried to dig them into the dirt of the shore, but to no avail, they both went over the edge and down with the waterfall. It took them a minute to realize that they weren’t dead… Just… In a place that they do not recognize and this did not seem to sit well with Royal Jelly it did not sit with her one bit. She was frightened of this new place, but Sloan wasn’t, he was an explorer at heart and he loved to visit new places. Obviously, his love for new things was not shared by Royal Jelly, judging by the look on her face. She gave another whine and trailed behind Sloan as he trudged out of the river, into the muddy shore, and towards the unknown forest ahead of them.
“Wow… I am amazed, this is a place that I have not seen before… This is going to be fun, Come on Royal Jelly! It is time for an adventure!” Sloan shouted as if he had just won something. As soon as the word ‘adventure’ came out of the handler’s mouth, Royal Jelly knew that this was most definitely not going to be fun for her.
“Don’t worry Jelly, you are going to be fine I will make sure to protect you.” Royal Jelly was not convinced, she had seen the wildlife of the places that she has seen, but she tried to imagine what she would see in this place where she has not yet been. Sloan shook his hair free of the water and kept walking into the depths of the foggy forest. It took Royal Jelly a minute to realize that Sloan had walked away because she was too busy worrying about what was around her, but when she noticed she bolted forward after him to try and keep up with him.
“Oh, hey Jelly look at this.” Sloan pointed to glowing eyes in the distance and when she looked she helped and the eyes disappeared,
“You must’ve scared it..” Sloan said in an almost disappointed manner but continued on. In her mind Royal Jelly was thinking, Or maybe just angered it… But Sloan didn’t seem to think so and she just shook it off too.
Royal Jelly and Sloan had been walking for hours and by then she had fallen, crashed, or tripped over something quite a few times. Sloan would always stop to wait for her and she was thankful for that, even though she still worried that he may get distracted by something and wander off after it. She seemed to be glued to Sloan’s side but he clearly did not seem to notice it much at all, which also frightened her. There was a hoot from the trees that made her jump, and a rustle in the bushes that made her whine. The only reason why she was so afraid is because she did not want a fight to break out… She hated fights and all of the results that occur afterwards. Sloan had eventually decided to take her back home and on familiar soil so that she would not have to worry about anything happening anymore, he did not want her hurt either. Despite how stone cold Sloan could be he had a soft spot in his lack of a heart for dires, even when they are not his own.
“Come on just a while longer then you won’t have to walk for as long as you please.” Sloan said in an attempt to try to encourage her forward but she was still walking slowly, How much is a while? She thought to herself, she was exhausted but scared. Sloan noticed that the fog started growing lighter and he grinned to himself, knowing that he had made it to where he had wanted to go. Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for Royal Jelly, fore she was still looking behind her, expecting something to pop out and shout BOO.
“Uh, Royal Jelly you may want to--” Sloan was about to suggest something but it was too late, the golden tawny female had walked right into a cliffside.

Royal Jelly shook her head and looked up as far as she could see, but it wasn’t that far due to the fog, and when she looked back down and to the side, she saw that Sloan was gone and this worried her. She nearly launched herself into the cliffside again, it was only Sloan, touching her head, dangling from a ledge on the cliff. She took the hint and found her own little staircase up… Though it wasn’t as easy to get up as she had hoped. The ledges that she landed on started to crack beneath her paws so it became a race between making it to the next ledge or falling to her death… And she did not want to die. She leaped from ledge to ledge as fast as she could until she made one final jump, tripped and began to roll down a small hill. She heard a laugh and opened her eyes that she had closed when she had begun to panic, looking over at Sloan who was almost drenched in sweat, he was smiling at her. How can he be smiling when we are in such danger?! She almost screamed in her mind, but then he pointed at what she was laying on… A patch of green grass? She scrambled to her paws and looked around, beginning to roll on the ground out of pure joy, happy to be back on solid land. Sloan gave out another laugh,
“Alright, let’s get you back to your normal handler, so you can get nice and cleaned up.” Sloan started walking off, this time with Royal Jelly happily bounding behind him and not cowering in fear.

With that Sloan knew that his adventure had come to an end for that day, but he would be back, he had to know more.
