Description
WildschΓΆnau translates from German as "wild beautiful valley". The WildschΓΆnau valley in the Tirol region of Austria really is quite pretty. We stayed in the village of Niederau, the first village of the valley and travelled up and down the valley every day.This photo was taken from the top of Mackbachjock looking towards the Kaiser Mountains. You can really get some spectacular views in the Alps and this was one of the best I had all trip I think.
The name for this photo comes from the awesome piece of music by Two Steps From Hell [link] and also from the face that the Alps are ever changing. They are tectonically active and are still growing, if only by 1mm a year. If it wasn't for the processes of erosion, the Alps would be as tall as the Himalayas.

I know that feeling. I used to live in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and looking down at the landscape from the throat of the world is an intense feeling.

It was something else, for sure. The seasons play well up there. For any given part of the year, it's an entirely different landscape.

it would be cool to keep going to the same place at different times of year to see how it changes. unfortunately i live in a comparatively boring part of the world where grey seems to be the predominant colour. though at least the trees are providing some welcome colour at the minute.

I think so. With winter approaching, it should be an interesting year for it. I need a camera myself. All I have in a iPhone, which while I can take a good looking picture, is by no means the proper equipment for someone serious in photography. None of that instragram nonsense.

i really like this time of year. it's getting dark pretty early here too, so some night time city photography could be my next experiment. you can get some pretty good entry level dslr cameras at reasonable prices at the minute. the camera on my phone is for nights out only.

I've been wanting a camera for nighttime/low light settings for longer than I can remember now. I've also been intrigued by the night.

i can recomend the canon EOS series. they're brobably the best range of dslrs with nikon and their entry rande is quite good. also get a decent tripod if you want to do a lot of nighttime photography.
the night is the s time of day (if that makes sense). i'm usually fairly nocturnal when i get the chance...
