It's a shame you did only 22 of these because they're very well done. I like the crisp, clean style each of them has. No fluff, no overboard details, just a smooth set of emoticons. Plus, at 14x14, you're making it slightly more difficult to make them work well, yet you seemed to have pulled it off nicely.
I particularly like the soccer ball and the "dead" emoticon myself. While the rest are nice, some of them seem to need a bit of work. Your ninja guy is a bit faded to me and might benefit from some darkening. The thumbs up and thumbs down emoticons are a bit unshapely to me and could use some smoothening out.
Otherwise, nice work. I'd like to sit down and do an emoticon set, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Someday....

Ah, very nice. They have a nicely distinguishable look with their shiny and slightly lifted heads. The only smilies that seem to be different from this are the thumbs and the ninja. The thumbs don't have any anti-aliasing either--though I am sure they're hard to get right.
Nonetheless, I like them. Especially the dead cross-eyed one
