I don't know about the new Furbys, but the old ones...were terrible...
Although the things people good at electronics can do with them can be interesting.  They can make them controllable, and if you take the fur off, it's freaky and cool.

My mom took out the batteries when I was little and he would still talk! Plus when I was five he would turn on at night and say, "Mmmm, Me hungry!"
