First off, he has super human strength, energetic and cheerful. He loves fatty food such as hamburgers. He can't learn to read "the atmosphere". And he lacks the ability to "assess the situation", he simply chooses not to. He is shown to be ignorant of the geography outside his own home, believing that maps of the United States constitute the "world map" and that he can simply get to other countries by car travel. That's the HERO! AMERICA!

And there's his guardian and adoptive older brother, the British fanciful, blunt, obstinate former pirate with a home full of rain. At times, he claims to be a gentleman, however he is cynical, sharp-tongued, prone to rough speech, and yearns for the golden years. Because of his status as an island nation, England is pretty distant and prefers to work alone. Perhaps because of this, he does not know how to express himself, leading to others often misunderstanding him.

Oh of course, ohnohnhonhon! The sexy "older brother" who always bicker with Britain for bickering's sake. He also is a great cook unlike Britain. He loves anything beautiful, even if it's an object or the same gender. France is rather responsible and calls himself "big brother". He likes things that are a little odd or chic. But on all that France is afraid of computers.
France often seems infatuated with most of the nations and is known to make blatant sexual comments at every opportunity and is very affectionate, often shown streaking or touching other nations inappropriately.

And...There's Russia. He's extremely scary but not malicious. He's childishly cruel and unaware of it. However he is gentle and naive, just very lonely big guy who loves sunflowers and hates the cold. Russia is merely looking out for friends. He finds amusement in tormenting others or watching them argue. Vodka is his fuel. He had wished someday to live somewhere warm surrounded by sunflowers.

Lastly there's the oriental and oldest country of the group by around 4000 years old. China is extremely superstitious but not all religious. He has lived a long life surround by mysterious things. He's said to hate losing and be patronizing, and he's only recently completely changed his halfhearted ways and begun to put serious effort into everything.
