This is changetale, btw.i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think humans can absorb monster souls. so, in changetale, since chara is asriel and asriel is chara, asriel must have come up with the buttercup plan and chara had to eat the buttercups, which is a pretty heartbreaking thought.

I think in the canon, humans can absorb monster souls. But I sense an issue. The way monsters cope with absorbing a human soul, is that they transform. Human bodies can't transform, they're physical. So unless they quickly start burning the magic of the monster soul to keep its power in check, it's gonna build up, damaging their internal organs. But I could be totally wrong. It's just an idea after all ^^
