Description Arwin hid out behind a stack of crates next to one of the town’s buildings, cautiously observing the humans that passed by. He wasn’t as comfortable around these foreigners as he was with the Indians, but his curiosity would not let him leave. Everything about how they dressed and acted was completely alien compared to the humans he had interacted with before. More and more of them were beginning to gather outside the building now. The young dragon crouched farther behind the crates to keep from being noticed. He also steadily became aware of a rumbling noise that grew louder and louder until it seemed to shake the building behind him. This was getting to be too much for Arwin to handle. He rushed out from behind the crates and darted around the corner of the building; stopping abruptly in the alley as a large object shrouded in steam glided by. It ground to a halt and bellowed like nothing he’d ever heard before. Arwin took a quick look over his shoulder before creeping over to investigate. This new thing had to be some kind of machine, cause it didn’t smell like any animal he had ever encountered. Large wagons had been chained together behind the machine, which snorted and breathed as though it were alive. His fascination with it was the only thing that mattered to Arwin in that moment. So much so that he paid no attention to the humans gathered nearby. The heat coming off the odd machine was almost tangible, and the little dragon couldn’t resist wanting to be as close as possible to it. Just as he’d gotten comfortable leaning up against the thing, a powerful blast of steam threw Arwin down against the wooden walkway. He scrambled to his feet and quickly readjusted his wings, blowing his own little cloud of steam at the machine. It simply bellowed a couple more times and slowly began to roll away. The remaining group of humans cleared from the walkway as Arwin watched the machine and it’s load fade into the distance. With a chuff, the young dragon slunk away towards the town’s metallurgy where his mother was waiting for him.
