a low res version my entry to this contest [link] done in 3ds max and brazil. i think i am getting the hang of it after a solid days work with it. pausing for the odd bit of homework here and there.Related content

hmmmm the floor is slanted down to the right..
you're really fuckin with the eye there, hehe... i'm like.. STARING at it trying to figure out what was confusing me... but the -left-to-right- lines in the brick.. the horizontal ones, shouldnt be angled down, but angled up... which makes me wonder, did you model this as I'm seeing it now, or model the scene with perfectly aligned objects rotatign around everywhere, working on it... and THEN move the camera or what?
I'm unfamiliar with 3dsMax, I'm an AutoCAD worker. :\ god.. shit like this makes me wonder why I bother modeling.... I dont have the fucking tools some of you people have I'm sitting here with a 2000i version of AutoCAD... that's IT.. heh... no matter how good I can model (which is pretty damn good, to toot my own horn) I can't render for SHIT.
do you know of any *dwg file compatible rendering programs free for DL?
anyways... this is an incredible piece.. it's a slightly boring scene, object wise... but photorealistic rendering which is just jaw dropping.
Maybe a fountain in the center, or small wall-fountain mounts on the sides, in the shadow.. having the water come out of the wall via a lion head or something could be amazing looking.. especially if you play with the lighting on it...
Something seems to just.. NEED to be in the center it seems... The architecture of the greeks and romans, was meant to accent the center, to draw a person INTO a building, or attract them to the center. Often baths, or pools or fountains were located there.. sometimes podiums, dinner tables, etc.. the main focus of the room was always the center... and there's just a HOLE of nothing there, in this render..
I mean, modeling wise, yea its perfect, I guess, but the scene.. I guess is unfinished, I would say. Sorry to give advice on this piece so late... I was just browsing by views or favs or something, and this caught my eye

OK, so I joined the ranks of the fooled.
Probably one of the very best "realistic" renders I've ever seen. Professional or amateur. The way the worn columns present themself - especially on the front is amazing. It's really hard to believe that this didn't get retouched after the fact. The lighting is great.
I love the perspective angle as well.

OMG, a render you say? This is the first (or second) render I have ever thought is a photo. Heh, cranial-bore's comments obviously prove the theory that it does in fact look like a photo. This is truly wicked. Only on second look I notice some ugly jaggies in the back, but those could just as well have been bumps in the rock.

This is some of the most amazing 3D I have ever seen. The only evidence I can see is the slight jaggies on the column.

Well, basically i just said the materials here are really amazing, some of the best i have seen with such a scene. I tihnk that it would also look cooler if u added a pool down the bottom there, with some aztec like stylings on it.
