Description
Oppression.... Or The Despot...Oil on Canvas
Just a scenario... Or the first story... ( There are many - as in all surrealist paintings )
The oppression of woman by the despot man, a concept imprinted many times to our innocent infant minds - like the infancy of the child who is interested in fishing, disregarding the spectacle in front of him...

First of all, I give my hat to you for mixing surrealism with a sociopolitical standpoint.
Second of all, I like the many contrasts, twists and turns this painting takes. For example, it is quite obvious that the child represents education or learning. He might be influenced by the giant dictator/solider/despot (which symbolizes imperialism) and his actions against the laid, yet sexually ecstatic woman (which symbolizes the exploitation of women in our modern age).
Third of all, the variety of colouring is impressive and quite unorthodox for such a message.

Ok here goes...
First the blue/red sea and sky doesn't look as realistic as the rest of the painting, reminds me of 70's artwork or fantasy paintings (usually with a Unicorn etc.,).
Also there's alot going on with the left, nothing on the right except white...
The way the woman floats (no shadow) as well as the interaction with the statue man doesn't work out for me...they don't interact together, like they were stuck on with collage.
I probably would of left the woman out, placing the man on a rock (or hover with a shadow) and save the nude woman for another painting.

How big is this piece? A bit of a rip of Dali's painting, but this one is good too. Actually I'm making a similar painting to this too, I'll post it later.

Height 150 cm, width 100 cm...
There is not parthenogenesis in Art, consciously or unconsciously we are all impregnated of the past...

Probably right, but the colours and position is from his painting (although his is looking up at the sky and his canvas is thinner to make use of the space on the right side).
I can give you an honest art crit, you're a great painter but there is possibilities of improvements.

this is great, though... she does look like she is kind of enjoying the oppression.

Is there intended feminine strength beneath her hands - surviving despite the despot on her? Or is it a more universal, non-feminine, strength which all oppressed can posses? Sometimes the strength defies a despot, sometimes the despot is raised up on it all the more, or perhaps the universal oppressed is the people that has this kind of relationship with nature, and they receive strength from it.
I wasn't sure if the child fishing was a child or a man oblivious or desirous. He does show, wonderfully, the scale of your figures. A scale that you use frequently and I'm still not sure what the significance is...
One of your most interesting and beautiful paintings

That is the strength of a surreal creation... To produce to the viewer thoughts like those that you wrote, so skilfully... Each and every explanation is accepted with delight by me.... Thanks dear friend for your comment...

Oppression is a matter of bodies, you are right.
The heaviness of the oppressor of our weak flesh bodies.
In Italy the government mada a new law that oblige people in irreversible coma (sorry, I don't know how to say perfectly in English) to receive medical treatment even if they declared the opposite opinion previously.
It is great how did you made the water be solid under the woman's hands, but still liquid.
One of your best works in my opinion.

Lisboa has been fine and sends you a kiss.
I've been extremely busy working for a new show in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisboa). The opening was on February 12. Finished everything right on time.
