This started out as practise, but then I ended working on it wayyy more. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.YAY SHIMBOLISHM. Reference used www.mnh.si.edu/lewisandclark/iā¦ so don't give me credit for the skull. It's easy to draw things with photoreference :I Now if I could paint a skull sans reference, now that'd be something..
Mah friend mentioned this idea to me and I got inspired so I wanted to try painting something quasi-similar.. I hope I don't appear to be stealing their idea >_<;; I just thought it was cool T^T I'm practisinnnnggggggggggggg

I always had an aversion to using reference ever since I was a kid :I
Because of that... I didn't really improve much... >_<;;
Use reference in moderationnnn~~~~~~~~ and then it will be okay

I've never had a problem using references to create my own things, it's when my picture looks precisely like I traced my reference when I didn't that I worry. Then I wonder how creative I am actually being XD Or if I am just on target. Like a lot of my skull pictures.Ā
However! Tracing as PRACTICE and not for real pieces is helpful. It gets you into the habit of certain motions and curves, the then the shape of an eye socket just comes to you or the shape of a jawline just ... is known. Muscle memory, and all that. Then taking those curves you understand, and applying them in new shapes and ways... That's when you know you've got it!Ā
