Okay, I drew this *looks at date on picture* 12-28-09 So, yeah, a long time ago. It's one of the ones I said I had in waiting but had a story attached to it, so I didn't really want to upload it. Well, this weekend was a bit trying for me creative-wise. I had no inspiration for anything else. So, I scanned in a few drawings and colored them. This was one of them. This drawing came about when I was trying my own interpretations of the Osmosian race.

Do you know how HARD it was to try and make Kevin in his Osmosian form not look like one of the creatures from Avatar? I haven't even seen the movie, but everything I did reminded me too much of James Cameron's latest film. That got old real quick. He also reminds me a little of the aliens in Sims2... probably the total black eyes with wite "pupils."

Yeah, yeah, what fan of Kevin Levin hasn't made him in alien for, yet? It's not a new concept, but I have a whole back story to the Osmosians. I'm not sharing it right now because it would take away from the story, should it ever come up. But, I wanted the Osmosian race to look as if they are the total opposite of the Anodytes. I would think that being made of pure energy and having the ability to absorb/convert/use anything matter or energy would be considered opposites. Ergo the black eyes. The skin is close to the inverted color of the anodyte skin. Pink and purple usually give you a green tint.

The Osmosian design was heavily inspired by the elves from Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I loved how they had lines naturally etched in their skin, and I wanted that shown here. Across the nose, on the chest, and under the deltoid. The design on the deltoid is what I consider a birthmark based on rank. I like to think that Devon would have been highly ranked, military wise, among his people, so Kevin has a mark bearing something relating to that.

The markings on his side, forearms, and every other finger were inspired by the creature from Criss Angel's Mindfreak TV special, not his tv show. This was way back in 2001, about five years before he'd get the A&E show. I always loved that creature.

I want to point out, he's still half human, which does play a role in his appearance. His nose did not change much for one thing.

I really like his bat-like ears and protruding "eyebrow." I made it a point for the Osmosians to not have tails. One, that'd make them again too "Avatar;" two, I just didn't like the look. It works for Hellboy, but it didn't work for Kevin. Or, not for me.

I love this entire drawing, even the background (believe it or not, it took me longer to do the background than to color the couple). If I hadn't been lazy, I would have tried to find the queue area of DisneyWorld's Space Mountain to use. I really like that queue area (had to when we got stuck there for about an hour an a half when the ride had to be stopped for some reason). It would have looked way cooler, but again, I was lazy. And, I'm a little leery about browsing online with the Vundo virus lurking around. I may go back at some point and fix this. I'd like the background to not look so wonky. I like the walkway within the walkway idea, but I couldn't get it pulled off and have the floor texture I wanted.

The posing gets me. Why would Gwen act so differently in Anodyte form? I haven't quite figured that out, yet. But, I'm pretty sure it has to do with Kevin being in Osmosian form for the first time.

The licking is an homage to Catwoman from Batman Returns. It's just something that sticks with me.

This made me realize I realized I really like drawing Anodytes. I liked her having a nose, even if ~DivineRoseBoot probably has it right with having Gwen as an anodyte with a nub nose. I'll say it's because she's half human. Or, because I like them having noses.
