I love this. The character, the pose, the hair, the lighting! Nice job.
I sent you an invitation to include this in our RenderHub3D group. I hope you can accept.

Thanks so much! I can't take credit for the pose as it is untouched from a set.
Thanks for the invite.

She looks really beautiful! I love the mis of confidence and playfulness in her expression and the way the light shines through her hair.

Great work Scott! I really like the lighting on this piece, did you use the "Backlight - Hair Shaders for Ira" from DAZ3d on the hair? Came out great!

Thanks!
No those are actually the default shaders that come with the Kinley hair. I used a mesh light to light from behind pointing directly back at the camera and set it to 80K W. She has a nice tan on that side now.
I am curious how the Backlight - Hair Shaders product works. Does it get the same result with less light?
Made with...
- iRadiance - HDR Mesh Lights Volume 2 for Iray
- FWSA Giada for Aiko 8
- Kinley Hair with dForce for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s)
- HoloFlow for Genesis 8 Female(s)
I also had the Bloom filter turned on in DS and boosted it a little in post with the GIMP bloom filter.

Oh, BTW, I was reading the comments about the backlit hair and I don't know if this is a proper technique or not, but I was trying to achieve the same thing a while ago (getting the light to shine through hair) and I discovered by doubling the translucency on the hair I was using, it worked much better than with simply the standard translucency setting. Less light needed too. It may have been coincidence, I haven't tried it again, perhaps I should experiment further.

Thanks! Someone had also mentioned this to me and I always forget to try it. Translucency and not transparency or cutout correct?

Translucency - how the light shows through ears for example with backlight (makes them look redder). I've only done it once so I'm not sure if it works all the time.

I tried to play with it a bit last night where I just doubled whatever value that was plugged into the Translucency Weight and it looks like I could allow me to reduce the amount of backlight but I really need to do a side by side comparison with different settings.

Sounds promising. Yes, I doubled the value too. It seemed to make the difference between not having any light shine through my characters hair to having at least highlights around the edges.

I know you're probably half joking, but it does get a bit like that doesn't it. (for me at least, I get a bit anxious about posting something

I am always anxious about posting. Don't know why.
But you are doing great with your stories. It is always a pleasant surprise when you post a new part for your stories.

Thanks Scott, always nice to know someone looks forward to my work Strangely, it's quite comforting to know others get anxious too. I procrastinate for days (or weeks) before I will post something.. it's worse on daz because they get lost so soon - you can really like something you've done and post it, then a few days later it seems like only 3 people thought it was worth looking at! (I know this is all about having fun doing what you want to do but there's still that natural human desire for affirmation regarding the work they do )

I could not agree more especially posting to Daz for some reason always gives me great pause.
You have been holding back on us?!? Gasp! Just kidding! It is great that you have the discipline. I find myself forcing myself to put something down and post it or otherwise I will just keep poking at it and changing this or that in a seemingly endless loop. I need to find a better balance.

You're very welcome.
Yeah... you gotta crank up the lumens to get that effect.
