The AGASCV102 (Autonomous Support Craft) Interceptor is a variation of the AGASCV101 Ranger. Both are autonomous support machines descended from the Mars Hound , which has been adapted into the same setting as the Voyager series mobile suits (The Mars Hound being a very limited production support craft that never reached full production, with only a few dozen rolled out before the line was discontinued). The concept was revisited several decades later. The AGASCV101 Ranger is a non-combat exploration version, while the AGASCV102 Interceptor is a combat variation. The idea is for the Ranger, Exploration is primary, combat is secondary and the Interceptor focuses primarily on combat, with exploration secondary. To that end, the Ranger and Interceptor will have slightly different armor designs for the shoulders and head.

The Interceptor Hound is a limited production autonomous support craft, based on a non-combat exploration model, the Ranger. With an emphasis on combat, the Interceptor is designed to engage hostile targets autonomously during long-term exploration missions on unexplored planets, working in conjunction with one or more mobile suits.
