Here's Sonic... not quite sure if I want this to be the final one for the poster Zach and I are doing. I'm using his next-gen 3D quill arrangement, not his Sonic Team artwork style with only three quills showing. I think I like this style better, as it's a bit easier to just draw realistically, and not have to worry about the perfect shape.Also, I thought I'd give some people a glimpse of the design process... obviously, there was a lot of change between the two attempts. I refined it and changed the style a lot, especially of his face - the first was a more abstract, angular approach... the second is a more true-to-life representation of his appearance in the games, rather than the official Sonic Team artwork. And I fine-tuned some details like the position of his hand and whatnot.

Sonic has cool feeling here, anyway I noticed a lot a change between the sketch and the inked lineart, are they the same artwork or these are a different ones?

looks very nice--do you ink on paper, then clean up in photoshop, or do the entire inking process on the computer? I love his expression.

I have always loved looking at your sketches, and how they come to lineart.
Your sketch and sonic style is, by far, my favorite.
I enjoy looking at messy sketch lines a lot!

It's really nice, but I think his eyes are smaller than what I'm used to. But not necessarily a bad thing.

Wow! Nice drawing! Totally wicked! That power ring he's twirling around reminds of Sonic X. However, I don't even like Sonic X. That show just... annoying! Too much OCs like Chris and Cosmo! 4kids... geez!
Oh, and please don't take this seriously! It's my opinion. If this offended you peoples, I'm very sorry.

Chris sucks. Cosmo sucks too, but not quite as much, because she at least got killed off, which made for the only honestly emotional scene in the entire series.
How's THAT for opinion?!
...yeah, I did get the power ring idea from Sonic X. That was one decent element they brought in from the games... how the rings work. Though they made it an awfully cheesy gimmick real early in the series. I don't plan to give much attention to the rings in NvS other than as currency, really. Sonic's got a few on him at all times, and that's left alone.

Well, I think that the most emotional scene in the series is when Cream and Cheese destroyed that robot from Sonic Battle. Aww, man! I forgot the name already!

It actually makes a lot more sense for drawing three-dimensionally... like Shadow's quills - you can show unique perspectives on it. Sonic's official artwork (and Sonic X) always has those three quills, and they always stay to one side of his head or the other. This way, it's got some real depth and shape. Looks more like his CG video appearance.
