Description "When I was younger I recall that of my family I was the one with the temper. That my tantrums were, largely, wrath incarnate - bad enough that my mother would have to wait for my father to get home."

"Whenever he did the storm that was my childish fury had long since blown over, and as much as I wanted to hug him I knew I needed to stay away."

"For when she would lean in, whispering into his ear and have his face contort into a loathsome scowl, I knew what it was she had said... that she told him of what I had broken or who I had struck."

"But... when I came back to the world, so did that temper..."

"It... it wasn't - it isn't - the same. It is this all consuming flame within me that wishes to take control of me... my body... my life... everything I am."

"And it does."

"When it does all I feel - all I can see before things get hazy from the agonizing pain - is unleashed rage."

"Pure. Unadulterated. Beastly."

---

Of the zoanthropic strains few are more renowned for their unabashed rage and unhinged savagery as the weretiger. Though more famous the werewolf is not the king of its kind in terms of raw power nor blinding ferocity - such a title belongs to the ailuranthropes - but it should not be discredited entirely either, as both are far more in every regard than mere men.

Katie "Kate" Cosner's unusual predicament - her nature as a wereliger - results in a beast that has many of the most distinct qualities of her heritages made manifest in the forefront. The most notable is Kate's terrifying anger; when disturbed, confronted, injured or even annoyed, she is a hurricane of remorseless, killer vengeance.

Classically weretigers are symbols of justified vengeance made physically manifest, but Kate is neither weretiger nor werelion; she is something more than either alone, for better... and worse.

---

This is one of those commissions that was a long time coming, but the end result is very much worth the wait, as Jocarra's talent is well known. Some of the major goals established were to give Kate a truly menacing, terrifying appearance, and to truly emphasize how brutal the process is for her, as well as cement her realistic rendition. Small elements exist to better identify her as a character in the form of subtle markings on her truly transformed shape, to more obvious elements like her hair.

We may not see Kate again until another future sketch of her is completed, but I believe this will tide over our appetite for zoanthropic destruction and horror.

As subtle as they may be, Jocarra didn't ignore the fact that Katie is indeed a wereliger.

Absolutely so - ailuranthropes are rare enough. I am fortunate enough to have a character and a piece like this.

Thank you for your comment.

Currently in this image Kate has yet to take any hostile action, as the blood you see is all her own due to how vicious they are on her physical form. As an entity however, Kate's savagery is largely because she is the heightened extreme of her normal human self, and because she falls into no classical therianthropic trope for her species - of which is a hybrid of two large cat zoanthropic strains. So one can gather that Kate is an outlier all around and likely an exception rather than a rule.

I am glad you enjoyed it all the same, however.

I was Referring to 1st edition AD&D, on which i was raised. the changes in 3.5/pathfinder (mostly pathfinder) can leave me confused... nothing was meant on the actual story of your piece, as my mentors constantly tell me "its your world, make it how you want" or something to that effect.Β

ps i'm not old, i just have old school parents!Β

Ah, I see your frame of reference; I am familiar with what you're talking about, as indeed they are intended to still be effectively "true Neutral" creatures. Unfortunately they're mostly unplayable in any version given how most systems seem to handle them or flat out refuse to include them as character options.

The lore I was basing this character's material off of is more historical (such as Chinese folklore, the Khonds people of India, among others) with some more modernized elements and generalizations included. For example, Kate is not solely injured by silver, but it is the most effective means to injure her; the difference between a keen blade and an old butter knife. Overall, tigers are a fairly polarizing therianthrope in their lore, so I stuck with the more distinctive and common elements (just vengeance, bloodthirstiness, etc).

Cool! thanks for the info. you didn't have to explain yourself to me though, i though the picture was cool even if i find pathfinder and other newer RPGs confusing sometimes.Β

I absolutely agree - Kate is a wonderful character for me as an owner, and the art of her is a great privilege.

Very very well done. For me, her blurred left claw is a major detail here!

It gives a good sense of perspective for the viewer to represent just how massive Kate is up close; it was a superb idea on Jocarra's part to blur it.

How was it done, exactly? My newb skills would tell me the claw was done on a different set of layers just so it could be blurred with a sort of photoshop effect in the end.

Admittedly I haven't the skill or knowledge to give you that sort of insight. In fact, I lack all forms of artistic skill, aside from, perhaps at most, the ability to write to some extent. Jocarra on the other hand is extremely talented and frequently willing to provide information and tips, so contacting her directly would likely give you some deep insight and knowledge on the matter that I lack.

All in all, I appreciate your interest and apologize I myself don't know first hand!

I should've payed some more attention to the picture's description. I shall ask the question directly to the Artist then.
Plus, no need to apologize since the lack of attention was mine. However, thank you for the information
