Kly'teinu, 18. The boy tied to the trestle is a house slave guilty of unsatisfying bed performances with the master. He is gentle and obedient, even a light caning is making him cry with pain and regret.

Luckily for the boy, a 'light' caning (ten strokes) is not going to permanently injure his skin, unlike a whipping or a flogging. In a couple of days he will be able again to sit down on his buttocks without feeling pain and in a week the bruises will disappear completely. Of course the specific texture of the skin and the intensity of the blows can affect the healing.
Slaves are usually allowed to wear loncloths, so the bruises will not ruin his general appearance while he is serving around the palace.
After a beating, it is customary to leave the culprit discomfortably tied up for few hours ('until dusk'), to think about his mistakes. Moreover, he won't be fed until the day after (to 'teach him gratitude').
