Kittens are such fragile creatures.. And once again we received a very cruel reminder of this as this little guy passed away last night from pneumonia. Sue (his foster mom & the one who's house I go over to all the time to help work with her fosters) called me early yesterday evening to tell me he was very ill and being brought to the vet. At first, from the symptoms he was showing, she feared it was FIP. When she later texted me to tell me that it was pneumonia we both had a little hope. The vets warned her that the kitten had a slim chance, but a chance nonetheless..Sadly he passed away in her arms early this morning.
But at least he was surrounded by love. All though his story did not have the happy ending he so deserved, he is still one of the "lucky ones". This little guy knew love and kindness in his short life while there are millions who never do. This is the hardest part of rescue... Knowing you cannot save them all and trying anyways. We are hopeful his two sisters will remain healthy and they'll have a happy story. Those are our payoffs.. RIP little guy. I'm glad to have gotten to spend as much time as I did with you. <3 Run free from illness and pain at the Rainbow Bridge.

It's definitely something you never get used to. :[ But he had a happy few weeks with us and knew he was loved!
