Description Hand tutorial. If you don't like it, there are a lot of other really good ones out there. This one isn't as dynamic as I may like. Hope it is useful to some people. If anyone ever looks at it.

Please comment and critique.

Click Download if you can't read it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the more slender and fewer lines you have the more feminine the hands will look. Manhands have very rough, defined joints and knuckles and veins. Yeah.

You are far more professional about your hand drawing than I am, lol.

I don't really know how to explain how I go about making hands...I typically just draw polyhedral that has the general shape or "feel" (like, for the direction) of the hand and then tweak it until it's recognizable.

Sometimes works well. Sometimes, really doesn't, lol.

But then, I never draw finger or toenails either...>.> *laziest artist alive*

Meh, I don't do half the stuff in here, but making the tutorial I think helped me understand my own art a bit better. They say there is no greater learning experience than teaching, and I agree completely. Anyway, I think the hands you draw are fine, so whatever. I like to add nails, as it really gives it an air of...well, for one thing, NOT anime.

It's true, trying to explain something to someone and teaching it helps you to understand the subject inside and out. It also brings to light how much you may or may not actually know one the topic that you thought you might have.

And my hands are fairly decent a lot of the time. I used to practice on them and say that hands were pretty much the only thing I could draw well, and back in the day, it was true. But then I stopped drawing them for a time to concentrate on other things and it was as if I'd forgotten what I was doing, lol. So now I sometimes struggle with hands, and feet as well, but I make do.

Worse comes to worse, I can always draw something to cover the hand xD

As for anime fingernails, some artists draw them, some don't. It's kind of relative, just like with western art as well. More details add a sense of realism a good deal of the time though, taking away from the cartoon-y feel a lot of anime has.

Mebbe I will. I'm not sure what else I could do it on though. Maybe feet. :3 Thanks for the comment Rea.
