A while back I was asked to write up a tutorial for my World Map of Eriond. However after my PhD began I didn't have time to complete it. Well, I finally finished it (a link to the tutorial can be found here [link] ).At any rate, in the process of writing that tutorial, I created this map. I don't ordinarily give away my work for free, but since I have no use for this map myself, I thought I'd make it available for free use to anyone who might need it (e.g. for their RPG campaign, or even for commercial use).

I love this map and it has helped me a lot but now I need more lol can u make me a bigger map with these two continents? Like a world map?

This map, just as it is, is free for personal or commercial use.Β You are welcome to edit the map as you wish.Β However if you would like me to edit or expand upon this map for you, I'd be open to discussing this but we would be talking about a paid commission at that point.Β If this is what you are interested in feel free to PM me and we can discuss the details.

Hello Achilles,
In regards to your first question, since I released this under a CC license it is free for anyone to use for personal or commercial purposes.Β The only caveats I made is that (a) I be attributed as the artist in any place where the map is published, and (b) people can't simply turn around and resell the map as is (say as a stock image or as a printed image).Β It can however be used for commercial purposes (free of charge) in other venues.
This gets to your followup question, yes, you certainly could use this map commercially for your novel.Β If, however, you'd rater commission an entirely new piece from me I am open to that as well, though my commission schedule is a bit full at the moment so any future projects might need to be delayed for a month or so.Β Please let me know if you wish to pursue this route and we can discuss the details by PM.Β

I am not a fantasy game person, but I do write stories/create worlds and I think this will fit well as a visualization for a new stellar world in my current Sci-Fi conceptualizing binges (chuckle).
The planet is called Commonwealth. Geography needs to have a space for a small shallow sea tropical island nation (like The Bahamas) and continental spaces. Β I think I have identified potential locations for both in your map.

Thanks much Prettitony, I wish you all the best with your novel! Β You will need a graphics program to alter the image. Β I suggest using either Photoshop or GIMP, the latter of which is free to download. Β Both have a text tool that will allow you to add labels directly to the image. Β If you wish to get fancy check out some tutorials (do a youtube video search) on how to do text effects with these programs.

This is awesome.Β I've been struggling with the kind of map I want for my fantasy novel and while I'm not sure this map would work ( it might) I'm intrigued as I think this is at least the style I'm looking for. I've browsed CG for a while and not sure how I missed your tutorial.Β I'm very familiar with gimp, so I'll see if I can give it a go.Β My biggest struggle in maps like or maps in general is mountains.Β Never can seem to get them right.Β
If not, Maybe I'll get another story out of this map.Β I also struggle in terms of what genre I want to write.Β Basically it's "writer's madness" spinning around in my head
