I'm just wondering if Wrasse is actually a good cat but was just like "This is how we used to do things so I feel like this is expected of me still" or is he just a dick who likes being superior to the Daisies?

Sturgeon is the one who was playing mind games with Wrasse, right? She knows he scratched Hake? I should probably know this by now, and I'm gonna sound cat racist for this, but I can't tell some of these cats apart. The Queen isn't Sturgeon, right? What is the Queen's name?

Thanks. I'm really glad you have those reference sheets. I should just study them a lot so I'll remember everybody. I have trouble remembering characters sometimes, and I'm always really happy if there are reference sheets.

Are we ever going to find out who named Trout instead of Sturgeon? We know it wasn't Thresher, and not the crab.

AdamantineClaws [2020-02-24 09:15:08 +0000 UTC]
Ooooh! So... Tresher was a harsher ruler, not only in terms of population control as through sending (at least half)willing tributes and reducing Kit number when he could, but also in the treatment of his non-family subjects?
It's still hard to believe that he hold any resentment towarts Daisys - especially since he knew The Tide wasn't the one giving orders. And he didn't, apparently, pay much attention teaching his kids to be harsh towards them. He just seem to have done what he believed was necessary to keep this place habitable for some, when he knew it wasn't going to be for ALL, because of Island's limited size. Only using The Tide as a tactic of making cats believe doing what's right... is well, right, as previous leaders probably did.
After all, can any of us imagine the cats being willing to sacrifice themselves if it weren't for the sake of some higher power than them? If it was just, "someone has to die, the island is not big enough for all of us, and I arbitrarily decided it has to be you this time." cats would probably end up being much more violent than now, and towards everybody, not just the designated outcast group, willing to draw blood end even kill, just because they themselves wouldn't want to be killed for "population control"
What Sturgeon understood, not everybody would, and especially ones that weren't meant to stay alive.

I'm honestly having such a blast reading all the different personalities in this cast... I don't dislike or like any of the WLB characters; all of them intrigue me.
You've really come a long way since The Recruit's moralities, golly~

I don't exactly blame Wrasse, sure, he has not been the best cat on planet and he does deserve some punishment for being a dick but I don't really think he knew better while growing up so I can see him being able to redeem himself in a future.
And Hake has the right to be angry but like, he's not going to accomplish anything screaming at others instead of talking and have a reasonable conversation.

He IS right, "you don't do that by smacking around daisys". Tho Wrasse can get himself together, and be a better cat, and I would like that, Hake is just angry (and he's right on that)

I'm really mad at Hake right now. I bet you are just mad your own religion isin't letting you get comfortable with daisies.

What are you talking about? She's getting along with daisies just fine, even with the weird religion, and no one but Wrasse has even said anything about it.

If something happens beetwen the high ranks and the daisies, who will he side with? I wouldn't become friends with one of them in case my loyalties where divided in the future.

But that's a completely different issue from "I bet you are just mad your own religion isin't letting you get comfortable with daisies.". If anything, it looks like that idea hasn't even entered Hake's mind, making it even less likely they're mad about anything but Wrasse being a brute who threw his weight around when he's confronting Daisies.

I don't think it's a problem that he attacks Daisies and uses his claws to chase them out. That way, they'll learn to never cross their path once again. They are starving and dying from thirst, i don't think a few words would just chase them away.

And clearly Hake doesn't care. Bringing this back to the topic "I bet you are just mad your own religion isin't letting you get comfortable with daisies."
Hake is obviously allowed to be friendly with Daisies, all three leaders (including Hake) have no problem with daises (one of said leaders in particular helps them brake open crabs to eat), Hake obviously has no reason to suspect that there will be any reason they'd have to "choose a side", Hake obviously disagrees with mistreating Daisies.
Meanwhile, she doesn't like Wrasse. Wrasse scarred Hake for being dirtier than usual. Wrasse attacked Hake, not because he saw a daisy in the family's territory or hunting ground, but because he saw a "daisy" that knew where the cat he was ACTUALLY about to beat up (Again, not for being in their territory, but because Tusk was in the middle of trying to eat a crab) went and refused to tell him.
What reason is there to be mad at Hake here? What is more likely, that Hake is mad about something they've clearly not even considered a possibility or an issue (literally the only time we've seen Daisies and The Family in conflict it's been about what they're eating, they're even tolerated in The Family's spaces when they don't try to eat crabs or ocean life), or Hake is mad because someone she does not like showed up and then tried to lecture them on who they should be friends with.

I kinda feel a bit bad for Wrasse. He's very zealous, and in fact perhaps a bit over-zealous, but clearly his sense of duty means a lot to him and he's trying to adhere to it the best he can figure out.
