Initial concept art for the imp creature in the Godfighter game, as a sprite sheet.

This little demon was originally going to be one of the main creations which the god character could attack with. I was initially given free reign on what the monsters should be like, and had an angels and demons theme going on. However, I was told to scrap this idea in favour of hybrid animals. This was in part because they didn't want to tie the "god" character of the game to the god of any religion, especially a Judeo-Christian one that people might feel butt-hurt over.

Uploading this now, I am just remembering another reason why the demon was never used in the game. I created these demons to be about 80 pixels tall, with the intent of them being smaller than the fighter characters. I designed them with the intent of them being impish enemies coming up to the knees of the fighters. Only after sending in my sprite sheet was I informed that the fighters themselves were going to be a MAX of 80 pixels tall! Rather than try to re-create these demons 20 pixels high, I moved on the the hybrid animals.
