Nice tutorial! Think I'll use this (and adapt it a small bit to fit my figure) and make an Irish flat cap for my lil' jacksepticeye figure. Thanks to you, I think it's gonna turn out awesome!Β

Do you have a tutorial to make a sort of cap like Links from Zelda?

AshFantastic In reply to Darker4 [2012-04-03 14:40:38 +0000 UTC]

I don't, but it can't be that hard. I think you'll just need two triangles. And also just make sure to measure your head so you know it'll fit

I still think we should re-do the tutorial from While useful and extremely helpful... it's kind of hard to follow and I think it could definitely stand for some re-explaining when it comes to the closing stitches and how to attach the head with a clean ease.

Totally Are we gonna use her pictures, or do our own? 'Cause I'm due to make another plushie soon

TheBulletAlchemist In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-18 22:08:34 +0000 UTC]

I would appreciate it if you would do that, as well.

Also, could you do a tutorial for how to do the clothes on those new dolls, like, getting them ON the doll and everything(like, are they sewn onto the doll or are they put on after they're sewn)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to TheBulletAlchemist [2008-05-18 22:25:21 +0000 UTC]

Sure thing!

Well I tend to make the head and body, but don't attatch them, then put the clothes on before I sew the head on. But leave the hats 'till after you've sewn the head on

I didn't like her pictures. I remember how badly her tutorial confused me. I am due to make another plushie soon as well but I was going to focus on the hair tutorial with my images so i can show people how I do crappy felt hair. So if you want to take this one and I'll do one of how I make hair. I'm also doing a painting tutorial on how I do my hand painted faces. I've got two commissions coming up and I was going to use them as fodder for a new tutorial. XD

AshFantastic In reply to Urivkhvost [2008-05-01 19:10:54 +0000 UTC]

I have a commission too, so I'll take loads of pictures And try and make it extra easy

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Urivkhvost In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-01 20:13:12 +0000 UTC]

XD No promises on the easy part. I think I seriously over complicate the way I do the hair. I'd love for you to do a short hair tutorial though. I think I have mastered layering felt long style hair but I suffer in all other areas... which hurts because my newest commission is a short haired boy. :3 I'll manage though. I'll do my tutorial on long layers of hair (which even though I use felt I am sure the same rules can be applied to any other fabric) and then we'll compare hair. lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to Urivkhvost [2008-05-01 20:35:27 +0000 UTC]

I'll try but I'm not promising since I've not done long hair yet!! I mean, the AshFantastic doll's hair is ok, but I wanna learn how to make it look more professional. Maybe you need like, three long strips and sew them together rather than making it from one piece, and I'll probably need to attatch it in a different place... The fringe looks good though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Urivkhvost In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-02 16:05:30 +0000 UTC]

I'll do the long hair one. Don't worry about that. I think I am decent at it enough to do a half way proper tutorial. You do the short hair though... I suck at maing that look good. But i'll handle the long hair one, how's that sound?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to Urivkhvost [2008-05-02 18:56:32 +0000 UTC]

Sure, but what sort of short hair?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Urivkhvost In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-02 20:52:22 +0000 UTC]

I am not sure. i guess maybe we'll have to work together on this and just do a bunch as we go. Better get my +3 sewing needle. Well, the next time you make a short haired plushie, just take some photos. I am going to get Joachim's hair done soon so that will cover long curly hair in my tutorial. I'll be doing long straight, layered, dread locks and whatever else I can when I complete my Complex 13 plushies. (Although they got moved back due to commissions)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to Urivkhvost [2008-05-03 18:11:37 +0000 UTC]

So by short hair, you mean like... Johnny christ plushie length? Because that was just using fake fur rather than skin material for the head
Looks like you've basically got hair covered!! I'm gonna try to get loads of different clothes patterns made
Plus we need to work on a list of good materials to use
Have you had any tutorials submitted for the website yet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Urivkhvost In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-04 04:11:38 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. I have been working on the materials list and also I have been experimenting with silk screening to use as maybe another option for true masochists. Good thinking with the using the fake fur rather than the skin material. I was wondering how you did that but I couldn't wrap my brain around it seeing as I have never really worked with fake fur a lot. That explains a bunch!

Sadly, I have not gotten any submissions for the content yet. So despite wanting to do this the easy way I may just have to go on and contact everyone. That's not too bad though, I get bored at work. XD My one boss just got fired so I shouldn't have anything to worry about anything. BTW! I asked someone to contribute sewing tips and she said she'd love to so I am working on a list of things to ask her about. Is there anything you'd like me to spacificly include?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to Urivkhvost [2008-05-04 13:30:02 +0000 UTC]

Ask her about the simplest way of doing a hidden stitch (like when we attatch heads onto our plushies) because I've tried normal needles and curvd needles, but neither is very easy...

Haha, I always feel useless when I'm writing back to you... I hardly have anything to say

Urivkhvost In reply to AshFantastic [2008-05-04 19:59:41 +0000 UTC]

You're talking to me, lol You don't have to feel useful. <3 We started being friends because we had a common interest, but now I just like you because I think you rock. No need for usefulness. Usefulness is overrated anyway. Be a loser, it's the only way to win.
