Uh what if you want to make it stop below the knee and the bottom part were puffy, y'know, like the trousers in German's SS Officer pants?

since i'm really bad in explaining (and tend to make grammar errors xD) i made a drawing
so.. how you cut the pants, if you want them look like this? [link] (black: normal pants | red: how i would like it to look) i'm new to making dolls, so it may seem like a dumb question ._.

The simplest way I can think of doing it, is just making them loads longer, then cutting them to how you want them to look Then if you like you can make a pattern from what you made so you can make them again in the future

Hmm, I have the same problem to be honest... I'm not quite sure how to make it so the bum fits properly!!

>.> That's my problem. Perhaps I shall tweak the pattern a bit. I'll let you know if I come to something that fixes the small crotch problem.
I think I might also need to make my dudes a bit bigger. I can't seem to cram a belt onto the pants, even though I want to. It's amazing how many details people manage to stick in there, when all I can do is try to keep his clothes on without them exploding o.O Ah well, practice I suppose. Felt is not the best fabric for detail work though >.>
I have a question. I've already looked around, but there aren't any tuts for it, otherwise I wouldn't bother you >.> But do you have any ideas for how to do facial hair? Or stubble. I was thinking either paint, or markers, but I don't know if either of those would work on felt.

I dunno about stubble but I tend to make facial hair from fake fur Or just iron-on transfers

Cool. I think I saw fake fur at my bargain store the last time I was there. Maybe they still have some. Thanks for the advice, very much appreciated.

I love this pattern. I've tried to make jeans several other ways, but this seems to be the best

This is really helpful, but I have one question: would it be possible to sew it inside out and then turn it right side out so it looks nicer, like you do with the body? Or is it better to sew it right side out?

eed123 In reply to AshFantastic [2011-11-17 11:51:19 +0000 UTC]
Sorry,I don't quite understand.Which way is it done? do you sew while it's right-side out or in-side out?

Oh my, so adorable! And simple, too If I had this tutorial 2 years ago, maybe my chibi plush would be finished by now ..... or not. XD Viva la procrastination
But that's gonna be so helpful anyway! Thanks

I don't understand how to sew the parts together...steps 3 and 4....
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AshFantastic In reply to YUMI-Vs-Gorillaz [2010-07-04 11:05:20 +0000 UTC]
Right, step three, you only need to do if you're going to hem your fabric, if it won't frey, you don't have to do step three.
Ok so for step four you'll need to get two of your pants pieces and put them together so they match, then sew along the crotch. Then get the other two pieces and do the same thing.
After you've sewed up the crotches (and have now got 4 pieces sewn together to make 2 pieces), step five requires you to match up these new pieces, and sew as shown on the picture Then turn them inside out and you have pants!!
