Description
In celebration of WKM's second anniversary, I finally made a relationship chart (the big anniversary piece will be posted on the 13th). Some notes on the characters below-Bastian and Eleanor Verre: The Attorney's parents. Bastian was a member of the higher class, and the two of them fell in love. It caused quite a shift in his relationship with his family, with many of them turning their backs on the young couple. Mercifully, he'd had enough money saved up to make ends meet, and ended up having a daughter... but their happy life was cut short when Bastian died of different sicknesses... this was before penicillin was developed.
This deeply affected the two of them, leading to Eleanor's insistence on her daughter finding a husband in later years (she's terrified her daughter will be alone and helpless in this "men's world"), and the attorney's lonely nature. It's only after they both meet Damien that their relationship begins to be fixed... until her daughter dies, and her best friend is suspected of murdering her.
Whether or not Eleanor learns the truth, and finally gets peace, depends on the timeline.
Everett Fischbach: The twins' father. Everett also grew up as a member of high-class, and he and Cass met on the bus when he was uncharacteristically running late. In his own words, "Thirty minutes of conversation, and I wanted to propose marriage." He loves his wife and the twins, but he was also terrified of not being able to take care of them, so many times he would put his job over his family. Celine is very similar to him, but Damien takes after his mother, so the men never had the best of relationships, right up until Damien's first year of college. Everett had overheard an argument that the twins were having (and before this, Damien had never actually tried to win one with his sister), and it turns out the argument is about a girl... a girl he got into a fight over.
Everett realized he wasn't doing his job, that his son likes a girl, and Damien has no idea what to do about it. After they have a conversation, the two do their best to begin to understand each other. Things begin to take an upward turn, right until the year Damien becomes Mayor- the twins' parents are killed in a car accident, just six months before the events of WKM.
Angelique Barnahm: Will's mama. As the eldest daughter of her family- and having no brother to speak of- she was expected to marry rich. Most of her suitors did not interest her, or had no interest in her. John was... different. She thought that she loved him, and that he loved her. Truly, he was only interested in her on a surface level, but it was too late- he'd shown his true colors after they'd been married and had William. He left her when Will was only a few months old.
Her family house (she inherited it the moment she was married) is... strange. Things get lost in there. There's a stuffed tiger in the attic. She worries for her son sometimes, but he's the light of her life, and that won't change.
Right before William's high school graduation, she died in her sleep of a brain aneurysm. She never knew her son's fate... but no matter what happened, she'd always love him.
The Host: Poor soul's had a rough life. He never knew his mother- her family made her give him up (he was born out of wedlock, and the family believed that Mark had tainted blood. They'd forbid her to be with him, but they'd loved each other... he has no idea he has a son). All his life he was plagued with his voices, and at first, he used his gift for good... until one of his birth uncles attacked him and his foster family. He made his fosters forget about him, then took to the road.
The voices began to get bored, he began to get bored, and, well... you know what happened to the Author. The moment that truly broke him is when he learned about what happened to Daniel. He...
He ripped his eyes out with his own hands. The only reason he's alive right now is because Dark found him. They're quite close.
(I'll add more stuff if I think about it, I just didn't want to turn this into a five paragraph essay about Abestache, haha.)
You all know who this series is about, and that it belongs to Mark, hahaha

Isn't it so interesting how differently two humans can interpret the same problem?
