Description
Not sure exactly what the issue is here, but when I apply a visual style, my min, max and close buttons on my windows aren't changing.I wasn't sure the best place to go with this question, but could someone help me? This is Vista 64 bit. I just reinstalled windows because of this same problem and some other issues I was having, but it's still doing the same thing. I applied another style by invaderjohn and the buttons changed fine. Then I applied this one and they don't change again.
I'm not sure what else to do, so thankyou for any help you may provide.

Gaia08 is based on Aero i think.
I have had the same problem.
Is Aero running on your desk?

I understand the need to patch by hand. I do the same with my XP Pro - I learned the hard way that not all patch kits are perfectly done.
Hmm... the only thing I could think of is something you might not like, but give it a look. In other words, download and dissect it, see if you can find something that would work for you.
This is a patch kit list - look for the ones specifically made for x64 platform, regardless of the label saying "AMD64". These also were made for machines with intel chips.
Here's the link:
Uxtheme Patches List
My hands are tied due to the fact I don't have a machine that's powerful enough to run Vista. (I wouln't even go near Vista's 64-bit platform with a 10-foot stick, for certain reasons.) If I had unlimited access to Vista for a few weeks, then sure... I'd be a pro at it and more than capable of helping you. GRRR...
As for trying to help, that's what friends are for!

I'm pretty sure (though not 100%), that that *is* where I got my patchers from. Windows Vista on that list only has 1 service pack1 64 download. I did download it, but I'm not entirely sure what to even do with it.
I pretty much taught myself how to install themes on my 32 bit machine first and then went on to find 64 bit patchers when I got this new computer. Beyond what I've taught myself about a small number of things, I know next to nothing about the way that windows works. I'm at a disadvantage with looking at those files since I probably don't even know what half the stuff means.
You, are a total sweetheart. You have gone completely out of your way to try to help me, and you are right, that is what friends are for. Send me a note and let me know if you have aim, we could chitchat Thankyou.

I patch for themes by hand, due to having 64 bit Vista. I feel safer taking ownership myself usually than trying to let a program do it. I'm not having issues with any other themes except for NildBlack and Gaia. The weird thing to me is that I used Gaia when I first got Vista 64 and it worked fine. So confused. Thankyou for trying to help me <3

Sorry, I gotta ask you something: did you install an UXTheme patch in your Vista? If so, would you please tell me the name of the uxtheme software/name you used?
I just need that info to aid you in your investigation. Thanks!

I'll dig deeper in the matter later tonight, when my kid's in bed. Hopefully you'll find the solution before I do!
Good luck!

It sounds like from reading a little into the comments that some others might be having the issue. I've never had this problem with ANY of invaderjohn's styles before, because he does them on vista sp1, and usually releases(or someone else does) 64 bit browseui. If you notice in the screenshot also, the start menu button is also screwy. I just feel like I'm at a dead end :/

I already have the 64 bit browseUI.dll. That doesn't control the min max and close buttons. It only controls that strip of space underneath it and the back and forth folder buttons. I'm going to go look at his thread again. I just don't understand why it worked for me before and now it doesn't.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this...
Go to this link:
Comments in Gaia08 for Vista, page 5
Take a look at hammerfallmaster's question and invaderjohn's answer. This sounds exactly like your problem and the solution, which is what led me to the conclusion that you need to download and patch the browseui.dll file in system32 from DjabyTown.
Again, my apologies for not mentioning this in the previous reply!

I dug at the source of Gaia08 itself - and might have found something.
I don't know if you tried this - this was created specifically for this very visual style, in the vista 64 bit platform. Hell, I don't even know if this is the solution to your problem, but my hunch says it is.
I can't even try it out myself because I don't use Vista, let alone the 64 bit version.
Let me know if you tried this or not. The link is right below:

Yes it is. I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm using another aero theme right now. I can't use NildBlack or Gaia for some reason though.

It's Gaia for vista by invaderjohn. I used this style when I first got this computer, and I've always had vista 64 on it. I just don't get it.
