The manip is based on fear, insecurities and how hard it is controlling your inner demons and hiding your pain, fear and secrets from the people you love and care about.
And how it becomes more and more difficult the closer those people get to you.

The things that keeps us from letting go of our demons and insecurities and keeps us from being being truly honest with the people we love, is the fear of their reaction.. the result of the aftermath. And so we overthink and continue to hide ourselves, and thus we find ourselves in an evil circle of fear and pain. The longer we hide, the more hurtful it gets. But still you're afraid. By the end you're just grasping for air. and standing motionless as the rain hits your face.
