Description
Been getting bugged to fill this out, so I FILLED IT OUT! XDFirst off, Phantasy star. The setting and futuristic/steam-ish/space style of these games have always been an inspiration for me. I love the atmosphere of games and art like this. A lot of people can't stand the game, but it's one of my favorites. I still play the old PSO avidly -- DONT JUDGE ME! lol
Next is Golden Sun. The references to alchemy and mythology is what originally compelled me to try these games. I fell in love with them almost instantly, because I thought the story and way magic is styled was amazing. Also... Scarves... Don't know why, but I like to draw them. XD
Skies of Arcadia. Who doesn't like pirates? Who doesn't like pirates in OUTER SPACE? But seriously... I thought the idea of space ships and pirates was a silly idea at first, but I ended up liking it; It was whimsical and different from my usual choice in game. Later on, you meet Guilder (the dude in the picture). I had one of my "Wait a minute...!" moments when I saw him, because he looked a lot like on of my OCs. The game suddenly become more awesome after that.
Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy Tactics to be more specific. I really, really like the character designs in the tactics games -- The color palette caught my eye as well. Another thing that has always made FF games fun for me are the monsters. They monsters can span from gnarly-but-friendly werebeasts; demonic, free-floating suits of armor with shining red lights for eyes; to silly-looking, fire-breathing globs of gelatin with jack o' lantern faces. Gotta love it
Fullmetal Alchemist. Yeah yeah, I know you hate it Axel -- you're just going to have to hate me for it 8D. Again with the getting intrigued by the magic/alchemy/mythology thing -- and the kindanotreally "scientific" approach to it. I liked the idea that they could explain how "magic" was used instead of just randomly being able to do it like in a lot of other things.
Futuristic scapes. I don't have much other reason to liking them other then them being really cool Xb
I hope to learn how to make pictures with scenes like that soon, because they are very captivating if done well.
Oldschool and Indie games. I love the simple style and incredible personality in older games. You can definitely do a lot with a little. I've always admired the styles, simple/cartoon quality and atmosphere of older games.
Mr. Game&Watch is a great example of how something doesn't need to be complex in order to have huge personality; he's just a two-dimensional stick figure, but he manages to outshine the personality of many modern/3D characters. You're a champ G&W! lol
Anyway... The other characters I picked (though there are PLENTY more =b) are Sparkster, Quote and Curly from Cave Story and Sonic + Green Hill Zone.
And now I officially realize that videogames have totally warped... I mean shaped... my artistic style and I probably play them way too much XD
Well, it's too late now... what's a guy to do. I guess I'll think about it after I play some Vectorman on the sega, yes ^ _^
