I was curious and looked it up, and apparently the MPPC was shut down in 1915? So, was there some reason that kind of salute was frowned upon before WWII, or is this an alternate timeline where the MPPC lasted into at least the thirties and forties? Sorry if this is an annoying question ^^'

That can't be right... the Motion Picture Production Code was enacted in 1930 and lasted until the late sixties. Also known as the Hays Code, it outlined what was and wasn't acceptable to depict in film. It's also because of this code that characters like Betty Boop had to be toned down and redesigned to clear the code.

Nah, I mean because of the sign he's doing with his hand. It looks like a Heil Hitler pose. During the time of Nazi-Germany, Goebbels was the main propagandist and had great influence over companies in the occupied zones of Europe.

To be honest, no, I haven't seen this character before. I didn't mean to offend you in any way. To be honest, your artwork is very well done. But that is just how I interpreted upon first sight.

That's Bosko the Talk Ink Kid. One of the first Looney Tunes!
For this piece I wanted to represent each of the major players in animation at the time; Disney, Fleischer and Warner Bros. I added Felix because he was one of the reasons why cartoon characters had to wear white gloves. Except in this case, giving Bendy too much ink might not be a good idea.
If I had room, I might have wanted to add something from the Van Beuren studios, but they didn't have much of an identity.

Thank you, but I think one problem as for why it didn't get in was that I may have over-extended with the story elements in this piece.
However, I think there's a nod to it, because one room that has a model sheet (winning contest entry by maxinkly) with a note attached that says "Don't show this to Joey."
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I'd like to believe it's a nod!
