"Why is that when we get older, our minds just seem to drift away, and we act like the children that we used to know?"

"Maybe it's just because our body's are, in a sense, deteriorating as we get older?"

"Try, but it just seems sad, knowing that no matter how we try, our minds will one day be forever lost, all because of age."

"Well, at least we can enjoy our time now, right?"

"Jared, for the best few years, we've been on this train, doing nothing more but discuss about the same topics over and over again. What is there to enjoy in life, when neither of us can get off this damn thing?"

"That's true... But, maybe the reason why you can't, maybe towards the fact that your afraid too..."

"Afraid too?"

"I mean, I know you more than anybody Tim. You ran on to this train 5 years ago, hopping to escape the lush worlds of reality. Which is the result of you never aging, yet never growing as a person."

"Well, why should I? Getting older is terrifying. And the fact that all people do is work like slaves each and everyday of there lives just to keep living, while I can't help but question why. Why is it better to keep working for the rest of your life, knowing that experiencing the world is very much limited due to the fact that all you do is work?"

"But, don't you ever feel sad or lonely knowing that i'm the only one to talk too?"

"... What?"

"You just said a few minutes ago how boring it is that we do nothing but talk about the same things every single day. Don't you want to meet new people, that way you can make new friends, so you don't feel lonely anymore?"

"... No one would really like me though."

"And why would you say that?"

"I'm just to... I'm to much like a child. I'm just so interested with the idea of travelling, and exploring our entire planet, that I don't feel that need to be running around, and meeting people. All it would do is slow me down, and make feel emotional towards them."

"What's wrong with using your emotions? Surely, you have felt happiness and joy once before, have you not?"

"You don't get it though."

"Why though?"

"Because, everybody who lives out there don't just give you those positive feelings. Most of the time, they'll make you feel dread, and hopelessness for our own future. Don't you get that? Heck, everybody always talks about how politics matter, as if we can change anything about our government in general."

"But, could you?"

"No, none of us can. And even when those people who believe that the government is doing wrong, they go out on the streets, and destroy as much property as they can. Yeah, as if the rational people of this world would ever listen to them, dear god."

"But, what of those who do think rationally? Why not just be with them?"

"Because, how the heck would I tell whose rational and not rational by just looking at them? And fine, there are a few rational human beings out there, but not as many as you think. The majority of them are loons, or down right insane. I mean, do you really think I can step off of this train, and find somebody that I can trust? Do you?"

"So, that's why you ran away, correct?"

"..."

"Once upon a time ago, you knew somebody who you thought was a friend, someone to trust, but it turned out that in the end he was lying to you the whole time. You once had a heart, but because of that one person, you can no longer trust those around you, questioning if you ever wanna take that chance again."

"..."

"Am I right?"

"... Yeah... Yeah, you are..."

"But, why judge the rest of the world because of that one person? Doesn't that seem to be unfair in away, and be going against what you believe in?"

"... No."

"But why's that?"

"... Cause, it was a group of people, not just one person... 5 years ago, I thought I could join with there gang, since there wasn't much to do by myself... Of course, they threw me on to the streets, and left me for dead. So, I ran as fast as I could, and was able to find the nearest escape from that world..."

"Why is that you never told me this before?"

"Because, it didn't matter much to me anymore. All I want to do now is see the planet behind these windows, knowing that the people walking outside can't hurt me anymore."

"So, instead of you facing that fear, you mind as well be a coward?"

"... Excuse me?"

"What is the point of living, when you don't even want to face the harsh reality to it all? Yes, as you said, this world full of cruel, and pathetic humans alike. But, are you honestly going to sit here, and not even going to try again?"

"..."

"I understand you're scared, but as long you are in this train, you will never find peace in this world for the rest of your life. In fact, I guarantee that you are only missing out on trying to make your life better, but instead making it worse by escaping from it all."

"... But, what if happens again? Then what do I do?"

"You face those problems head on, and decide on how to accomplish those problems. But this... You need to leave."

"... You're right..."

"Of course I am. Now, come with me. I'll take you off at the nearest train station. There, your new life begins. Meaning by, the life that you once had 5 years ago can never be an option."

"Wait, I can't go back home? Why not?"

"Out there, you are considered dead, and even missing. And the life that you once had was completely vanished, as I did as you asked of me, and erased that past of your's 5 years ago."

"... So, I have to make a new life now?"

"Correct."

"... Thank you."

"For what?"

"... For helping me answer my question... Even though once we get older, and our minds drift away, along with our body... I rather be remembered, rather than forgotten for the rest of my life..."

"... So, your ready?"

"Yes... Yes, i'm ready."

"Then, I believe it is time you to walk out those doors, and step out into the real world. Good luck, my friend."

"Thank you... And goodbye."

...

As the doors opened, Tim was found himself outside of a city, seeing the lights flashed before his eyes for what it seemed miles away from where he was standing. Once he stepped outside, the train vanished, as if the train never existed in the first place. He then turned back around, looking towards the lights, and whispered.

"And a new story begins."

Very interesting! Deep and yet simple questions! I love this and I relate to most of it. There are a few typos but still it's really wonderful

The one thing I like about this story is how settle it is. My AwesomeIsRed origin story taught me a lot about what I did, and what I could've done better. And honestly, i've always been trying to figure out how to write a story, that I feel as if the flow within that story is moving at an even pace. When I wrote this, you can tell where all of the acts are in the story, and can feel the main character changing as the story continues on. To be honest, it's just as simple as my poems. It's not to long, it stays on topic from beginning to end, and again the flow of the story is spot on. And the nicer thing about this story, is that because it's so short, that fixing the typos won't take forever to do. So, that's a humongous positive in my opinion.
