I was bored last night going through my Lightwave model collection, specifically flying saucers. I noticed I hadn't made an Invaders saucer yet so I spent a couple of hours researching and modeling to get this. It's not quite finished and not quite accurate but as with most TV show stuff there seems to be some variety in the models and sets used. Might do a lit version with the moving lights around the top. Compared it to my last flying saucer model build, the UFO series ship. Both far too small for travelling interstellar distances in without getting super bored.Related content

It's really too bad the UFOs were the bad guys...because that's the coolest "flying saucer" design ever. Although it's more like a flying top than a saucer...in fact, when I was a kid, I took some of those Duncan Spinning Tops and drew on them with magic markers, to make them look similar to the alien crafts in UFO.

Peronally I'd stick with the life size prop they built, which'd be about 50% those dimensions.
But that's just me. It is certainly immediately recognisable as THAT saucer.
